An idea jumped into my head last week. This idea seemed a little crazy at first, if not impossible, so I thought. This idea was for people to compete in all of the different areas of VMK, a tournament of sorts. I thought this would be impossible within VMK, but since there's this forum, hmm..

The VMK Masters Tournament

This tournament will test players in all areas of VMK. These areas include and are not limited to:


Castle Fireworks: Remixed
Pirates of the Caribbean
The Haunted Mansion
Jungle Cruise Photo Safari
Guest Room Design
Tomorrowland Arcade Games



Think you are the best player in VMK? Want to win some cool VMK items? Then this is the game for you.


How Do I Join?

Joining the tournament is not allowed as of now, and will not be allowed until a future tournament. A week was give for sign-ups, and it has passed.

Prizes

The person who wins this tournament will be given a large amount of items inside of VMK as well as a few VMK codes. The list of items is too massive to post, so I will give you a brief description of items that could be won:


Retired Furniture
Retired Pins
Retired Clothing
Retired Posters
Room Codes


The top 3 players at the end of the competition will receive the largest prizes.

At the end of part of the tournament, the top players for that part will be awarded prizes. The amount of top players for each part of the tournament will be decided once the task for that part is given out. There is still a good chance of you winning some prizes, even if you don't make it to the end.

Be advised: You will need to be able to take screen shots. It's not my problem if you don't know how to or can't, I will try to help, however.

I believe that's all I need to cover for now, more rules will be put into effect when the time comes. Good luck, players!

There will be tasks given out during each part of the tournament, and each includes a time limit. You need to complete the task within the time limit, which will be a few days in most cases. As for being able to log on all the time, it's not needed.

VMK Masters Tournament : Task 1

The Task:Post a picture of a recorded score on the Tomorrowland Arcade game Airlock Escape. The score MUST be above 250,000. The three (3) players with the highest scores this round will each receive a prize. The bottom three (3) players who do not submit a score, or are the last to submit scores, will be eliminated. Thirty (3) players will make it into round two.

Your picture MUST have the code area blocked out in a white box. Your VMK name, and VMKF username if different, must be displayed inside of the box. This will prove it's your score. Post the picture inside of this thread.

Deadline for this part of the tournament is VMK closing on Wednesday, August 8th, 2007.

Since there is no set rule for this task about scores, yes, you can submit multiple. Your highest submitted will be counted towards the tournament.

If you saved it and you know what you saved it as, you can do a quick search for it on your computer, you can also go to Start > My Recent Documents and hopefully it should show in there...

If you study the game long enough, you know how it works. I suggest you do a little more research before accusing people of cheating. Plus, how can we cheat if the picture is right there? Not all of us are that good at shopping pictures.

I have yet to see an image that has been edited, other than to include the person's name for VMK. If an image is submitted and it does look fake, the user will be taken out of the tournament.

Glad you are staying in :) I'm not great at most of the games either, but it sounded like fun so that's why I joined up.


To the others that are doubting scores or have dropped out, I'm sorry that you feel the need to quit something you agreed to join. You weren't forced to join and the tournament will probably run better with people that WANT to be here.

I personally know that I stand no chance of winning, but I'm in it for the fun. Who knows, I may get a top score in something, stranger things have happened...

Schmoofy, I still think this is a great idea and I'm proud to be a part of it. I hope you don't let the lack-luster behavior of others make you think that this tournament is anything but GREAT and well-organized. I personally am happy that you gave plenty of time to complete the first task as I work a lot and don't have much free time. If we only had 1-2 days to complete each task, I would have been dead in the water from the word GO.

Congrats to everyone that has submitted a score so far, I'm in awe of many of the scores. If you have any good hints for the game, please let me know via PM, I'd love to know how you play the game.

Schmoofy, I have found something out. There is a glitch in the game that allows you to get very high scores. Look -

That is a score with the glitch. You see, the bug is you can get the coins then kill yourself by falling into a pit or something and you press reset but you keep the coin points. This is especially effective in the higher levels.

This, however, is a score that I got without the glitch way. It's actually a very high score if you don't die.

I didn't know if other people were doing this, I'm not accusing anyone. I just couldn't bring myself to get a high score the wrong way and not tell anyone. And, I bet some got their score the glitch way by accident. They may get the coins in a level then die on accident.

One more thing, there is another great, non-glitch, secret about this game that requires a bit of skill if you can find it out. ;)

Insight on the game.I'm not too worried about that happening right now, being this a "masters" tournament. The more you know about the game and getting a higher score, the "better" you are at VMK. Silly explanation, I know, but I'm looking for the best of the best players here.

I was going to rule out all scores above 400000, but since that would be eliminating doing your best, I can't. I could, however, make no prizes for this round and give out six prizes the next round. What do you guys think about that?

While Q/S pointed it out after some people had posted higher scores, some may have used that prior to his posting. (I'd like to say that I am not accusing people of doing it, but the potential is there)

Alright, no prizes this round sounds fine, no objections from me. I guess I kind of messed this one up. But I kept wondering how people got such high-scores but lost a few lives. And I had to let someone in on this.

I was going to rule out all scores above 400000...Even if you did do that, people could set it up so they could get just under 400,000. Not saying I would...

Anyway, this is just one task, I'm sure the others will be better. It's not Schmoofy's fault, Airlock Escape just isn't a game made for this thing we're doing. Now if they fixed the bug, that would be great.

One more thing. I tested the bug a few times, meaning I got the coins, fell into a pit, then restarted. I still had around 10 lives left though. Tomorrow I may go back, then use all my lives. I'm curious to see if I can break 1,000,000.

No, you need to first paste that screenshot into a photo editing program, such as paint. I wish we could use VMK Pal for this task, but sadly, we can't.

After you take the screenshot it is saved in your computer memory, much like copying and pasting text.

After you take the screenshot, open your photo program and press CTRL + V and it will paste the initial screenshot into the program. From there you can crop and enter your name and all that fun stuff :)

I'm making this post to make the edit of the first bonus task known. Getting under 100,00 is entirely too difficult, I can't even get below 160,000. The set goal right now is 180,000. Post a picture of a score below 180,000 and you will receive a prize as stated in the bonus task's post.

Once you have completed the game, follow the instructions below.

Task Two

The Task: Create a mix in the Music Game Lobby or Monorail. Play the mix on stage. While playing the mix, get three different people to shout something positive about your mix. The words that qualify are..

These words can be used with others, such as saying "awesome mix!" or "wow that's good!". If the words are said by someone saying something like "I did good today with credits", it doesn't count.

You could have friends help you.

Rules for screen shot: Being this is an in-game task, VMK Pal would be the best way to get a screen shot, save it, and upload it. Download VMK Pal at VMKPal.com (www.vmkpal.com) if you do not already have it. If you can't download VMK Pal, refer to this guide (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=442) on how to take a screen shot and such.

Your picture MUST show your player's profile, click yourself to bring it up. You MUST be standing behind the DJ booth playing your mix, that means the longer the mix, the better. Also, there's a secret to Airlock Escape I thought I'd tell you guys since it's over. There is a way to get 5,000 in a speed bonus. Two ways actually, the first is a bug where if you wait a certain amount of time, you get it (I haven't figured the exact time). The other way is starting faster. If you put down a few arrows, then press go you might get it. For an example, level one. Put down the first three arrows, press go then put down the last two. Some of you may already know this. It's tricky and sometimes risky but it's fun.

I've gotten a few PMs back from people who are signed up for the tournament telling me about the crashes in the Music Game Lobby. I am aware of the crashes, and I knew about that before giving this task out. That adds an extra difficultly level to this task, if you look at things that way, just how I planned it.

You could also use the Monorail Mixer, if the Street Part keeps crashing on you.

Picture Rules: The picture must be a picture of the message you get when winning ten fireworks remixed games. This message will say..

Also, the best time to win, I've found out, is near VMK closing on weekdays. Usually people don't play the game that late in the day, and it's an easy time to win.

Yeah I do:-) Its called Business Trades, and I can give you some tickets to give to the bonus winners. Or once all the bonus winners are in there I can make it so nobody else can enter. If you could set a time that would be great:-)
