View Full Version : Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth
Brer_Nick 07-29-2007, 01:29 AM I just got back form WDW and I was surprised and dissappointed to find out that the Haunted Mansion has been closed for "referbishment".
What I want to know is everything about what's happening to it. So far all I heard was that it will include Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm not sure if this will make the ride better or worse, but my information was given to me by a cast member (aka my sisters's friend).
The Haunted Mansion is my main concern, but while I'm here I would like to include a question concerning Spaceship Earth which has also been cloded down. It appears that they are only taking down the giant sign, but I would like to know if they are updating it out of the 80s'.
Thanks for your responses and your time.
Schmoofy 07-29-2007, 01:42 AM The Haunted Mansion is down for refurbishment to add the "Disneyland" attic and something new to the "spider hallway". They are also sprucing up the AAs, air conditioning system, some of the effects, and Leota's seance room.
Spaceship Earth is under refurbishment to make the ride "more like Horizons", if you had the chance to ride Horizons before it closed you know what I'm talking about. The ride is getting a new air conditioning system as well as a few new scenes, and not to mention other major changes happening that will be revealed in November.

I went yesterday too and had the same reactions as you did. It was my first time going to WDW and was looking forward to it. I'm sure it'll be better though, as from what I've seen on the internet.
Maybe next time!

I'm glad they're closing down the HM for a while there, the music and lyrics were really out of tune, and I personally think the one in Disneyland is better. I can't wait for it to reopen.
Foustketeer 07-31-2007, 12:36 AM The after-show to Spaceship Earth is also being revamped. They had just finished one part and were working on the other parts.

That is a bit strange since EPCOT is celebrating it's 25th on the 1st of this coming October.:wave2: It was put up in 1999 to celebrate the new millenium. The 2000 was changed to Epcot after the celebration. In my opinion, the structure is completely against the aesthetics and symmetry of the park.
They will both re-open Sept 1.
HM is scheduled to reopen on September 13th for the first MNSSHP and not a day sooner.
SSE will reopen on November 15th. :)
pup394 07-31-2007, 01:02 AM is haunted mansion closed at WDW too???
WDW Monorail 08-01-2007, 12:26 AM is haunted mansion closed at WDW too???

Marysol 08-02-2007, 01:40 PM Sadly true =[
I went recently, we went to the main entrance of HM and there is a big wooden wall, but if you do get to go on the liberty bell riverr boat, you can see ladders and junk laying around in the line area the dead horse and ropes are gone.
I'm going to Epcot soon, so i'll look into space ship earth more. From what I heard both rides open Sept Again.

They have been revamping it for about 5+ years..-_-
GryfindorGal 08-04-2007, 02:23 PM I heard about this. I'm going today to WDW and I was sad to hear Spaceship Earth would be closed. Me, hating Haunted Manison didn't care zip, when I heard it was closed, I actually hollered with joy-- LOL

EPCOT opened in 1982, on October 1st this year it will turn 25. It was put up there for the new millenium.
HM is scheduled to reopen on September 32th for the first MNSSHP and not a day sooner.
SSE will reopen on November 15th. :)
September 32th doesn't exist, no offense. The Mansion will reopen In September though, I'm pretty sure.
slinkyman 08-04-2007, 02:40 PM The Haunted Mansion is getting a new staircase scene to take up the boring space of the spider webs. Madame Leota will now float. And the "Widow Bride" from Disneyland is coming to Disney World's Mansion. (Also they updated some audio effects, and they are changing a little bit of the beginning preview rooms)
On Spaceship earth they are re-doing the ride cars (got to have those speakers work!), better AC, and lots of stuff that will have to do with Project Tomorrow (at the end of spaceship earth). And maybe some other cool stuff.. ;)
I can't wait for Mansion. I'm going to disney world in October so it should be open.
