The object of the game is to get a big house and get a statue of yourself in front of the train station. Here's the ranks :
1st : Gold statue
2nd : Silver statue
3rd : Guess. If not, look below.
Bronze statue
4th : Nothing. Aren't you sad?
No, I don't have the biggest house in the neighborhood.
When you beat it, you can still play it. Just like most games.

Uh, there's no object of the game. It's like living in a neighborhood, make friends with animals, talk to them and such, send letters, have your friends visit, go fishing and bug catching, and customize your neighborhood. You don't need objectives, when you can just have fun. If you play vmk, you ma also like animal crossing too.
