View Full Version : What VMK stuff can I get at Disneyland?? ASAP!
Amasette 07-20-2007, 08:07 AM OK, my last trip to Disneyland was several months ago...which was before I joined VMK (so I knew nothing about in-park anything). Now we're about to go again...umm...no specific dates, but VERY soon! I know that the in-park quests for Disneyland have ended, but I don't know if there are other VMK things I can only get in the park. Are there?? Or is VMK kind of just wiped out of Disneyland? Please, someone who knows, let me know so I don't miss out!! (And soon!) Thanks so much! :)
Edit: For instance, I just read a post about getting the middle submarine piece by riding Finding Nemo... Sorry if I sound noobish, but how do you get your code if you ride?? Anything else I should know about?
SuperBillyHill 07-20-2007, 08:38 AM You can get submarine middle cards from the cast member that hands them out at the start of the line for Finding Nemo and they will give 1 to each person in your group. At the magic shop on mainstreet they will give you 1 magic mirror card for each item you buy. They are supposed to have red penny press cards at the candy shop by the Pooh ride but they didn't have any when we went the first week of this month, but maybe they got some by now? idk.. And at the Disney Animation building in DCA they will give you the animators desk cards when you go to see the drawn into animation show (I think that's what it's called) But everywhere you go to get cards you have to ask because they don't just automatically hand them out unless you ask. Well, except on the Nemo line they were pretty much handing them out even if you didn't ask. And you can also buy VMK pins at the little green men store command in tomorrowland or at the world of disney store in downtown disney and you get 2 cards for pirate quest items and 2 pins in each box. And you have to ask the cast member at the counter for them because they're not out with the rest of the pins. And we didn't get any stuff in Innoventions this time but when we went last year in December for the holidays a cast member in there gave us some cards for that had codes for credits and some retro mickey shirts ( a virtual shirt for your character not a real shirt you can wear ). I aksed them there this time and the first person I aksed didn't know anything about any cards at all and she asked this other dude and he said they didn't have them anymore. So idk if they just ran out or if they don't get any. And also you can ask at the city hall desk to see if maybe there's anywhere else to get vmk stuff. Those are all the places I know though. Have fun at Disneyland :) woot
surfergirlkelly 07-20-2007, 08:45 AM This isn't exactly something you can "get" at Disneyland, but the last time I was there the computers were still in Innoventions and you can make an account (or more than one ;)) and you get the black ears and a few other things. I'm also going "very soon" and if I make it into Innoventions I'll let you know if they're still there.
SuperBillyHill 07-20-2007, 08:49 AM That's true surfergirlkelly and I forgot about that. I didn't make any characters though so idk if you still get ears or any other special struff but I'm pretty sure youcould make a characterand it would at least have a born in park badge.
Amasette 07-20-2007, 08:53 AM Wow! This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks so much--you guys rock! :D
Amasette 07-21-2007, 08:20 PM Well, here's my unfortunate update on my trip to Disneyland and VMK. So I went to Disneyland yesterday, but it was more of a special birthday treat for my (1-year-old tomorrow) nephew...so I really didn't have time to myself. (Mostly the kiddie rides...with a couple of exceptions at the end of the day after he fell asleep...phew, I would've cried if I hadn't gone on Splash Mountain--it was closed last time we were there.) Sadly, by the time we got to Tomorrowland, baby was fast asleep, Nemo line was too long, Innoventions wasn't even a contender in our after fireworks activities... So those cards were off the list.
We did, however, go buy mickey ears (which I had read somewhere else gave you a card...). We bought them at The Mad Hatter...asked the CM about the card...she asked her co-worker...both said, nope. Didn't have any. Try under the Castle. Went to the Castle...asked, CM clearly had no clue what I was talking about (and admitted to being new)...she asked her co-worker who said they weren't doing cards anymore. Well, in my mind I know that can't be true (right?)...because of Finding Nemo. That just came out. Sigh. After that I was a little too bummed to think about buying a boxed set of pins on the way out.
So there ya go...my personal VMK card quest at Disneyland was a bust. Oh well, still had tons of fun! And thanks again for the advice--wish I'd gotten a chance to exhaust all possibilities!

The card you are referring to when buying a hat was the "Gold Ears" promotion. Sadly that has ended so that is why the CM did not know what you were talking about. Look on the bright side: You got to go to DL not many people do:)

Ah ha! Thanks...yes, I'm certainly very lucky to have gone!!

Actually, that's not true. The items still available are:
Magic Mirror (GWP at Main Street Magic Shop)
Nemo Submarine Middle (Free handout from Nemo queue / No wait time necessary)
Animator's Desk (Free card from Animation Building, DCA)
Red Penny Press (Some say this GWP is still available from Pooh's Candy Shop. Unconfirmed)
Pirate Pin Boxes (Blind assortment of 10 pins / cards)

idk but in california adventures, they gave me 10 free animator desk cards lol

That's very true. The only one of those I couldn't get was the red penny press at the Pooh candy store but they are supposed to have them and they were just out or the cast member didn't know where they were. We went to city hall with the receipt from buying stuff there and they took our info and said they'll look into it and mail us some cards if they get some. And we did that one other time for some cards they were out of and it took like 3 months or so but they did actually mail the cards. And it was so long that I kinda figured they either forgot or never did anything with our info, but then one day some cards came in the mail. :)
And I'm sorry Amasette that it didn't work out good for you to get any cards on your trip but I hope maybe they have a cool new thing for you to get the next time you go. :) Just be sure to always ask for your VMK stuff because they don't just give it to you automatically. Well, except the cards that come with the pins, those you get automatically because they're already inside the sealed bag in the box. :)

Really?
I went to the Animation Building, went to the Animation Academy are and asked the CM who was working there for the VMK card (Animator's Desk). He said he didn't have anymore and then called some other CMs (in the building?) and said they ran out. D:
At least I got to learn how to draw Donald Duck, though. :D
There are still the pirate pin boxes (even @ World of Disney, they are behind the counters in the pin area) and they are still giving away the nemo cards still in the line. I even got a few cards when I asked the CM for some when I was waiting in line for the Matterhorn. (Had people in line save my spot. XD)
I'm not sure about the status Penny Press or Magic Mirror though.
Amasette 07-31-2007, 10:58 PM Again, I say darn. I should've gone shopping...but too little time, and too much to do. (Plus I should've gone after them a little more intensely. I ate a late dinner right across from the Nemo line, watching some band at that funny rising Tomorrowland stage... There were so many people over there (in line), and I didn't see anyone with cards...I should've just asked the CM.) Well, I've learned for next time!
