Do you think there should be a disney park in South America?
I think there should be because of the large number of people that i have seen at WDW for their 15th birthday celebration,. I think that it would be closer and they wouldn't have to leave the continet to have disney.

i think they should at least have a disney too because it would he harder bug ur parents (well this only applies to a few ppl) to pay like $500+ just for a visit.

i think it would be great if they had disney parks all over the world. that way, people don't have to worry about traveling so far just to enjoy the disney experience

I agree 100% with that. Disney everwhere! The company would be known to everyone and the profits would be unbeleivable.

YES. Probably in Buenos Aires, Rio De Janiero or Santiago.

Well, the company is already one of the most widely known brand names worldwide. Disney already is everywhere. I don't think that is really the problem.

"Profits" would only be unbeleivable if... well... if it made money. :) Just building a park doesn't guarantee profits - there is a lot of expense in building and running a park! Just look at EuroDisney (now Disneyland Paris) - it has had financial problems since the day it opened.

Plus there is the problem of saturation. The idea of "if one park is good, 100 must be better" just doesn't work. Six Flags has learned this lesson and is closing parks. If opening a park in South America just draws away customers that might already have gone to another Disney park, they have gained nothing.

Personally, I don't know if this would happen. I think a park in South America might work, but its not a "sure win".

As Priz stated, I highly doubt Disney would make a profit down here, but anyways I'd love to see Magic Kingdom here! :)

i disagree. i think disney would make a profit.

take a look at hispanic culture. they are extremely family oriented. thats what disney parks are all about. have you ever been to disneyland on a busy summer day? its about 70% hispanic. this is fact - i worked there ALL summer, and its unbelievable.
euro disney didnt work out quite as planned for a number of reasons. first of all, french culture is extremely unique, and to have a group of americans try to figure it out is asking for trouble. the french dont even like americans, for the most part, so why would they spend their money on an amerian enterprise? then theres the whole fact that disney spent little money on eurodisney. you gotta spend money to make money.
while we're talking profits here, disney world actually doesnt make much money. in fact, until very recently, they didnt even make even. but disneyland and tokyo disney make up for it.
in my opinon, disney shouldnt be all about the profit. but when you have a money hungry ceo... well, i wont get into my opinion of eisner. point being, walt wanted disney to be for everyone. he wanted to spread it worldwide, and he really didnt care about making money. he just wanted to see people happy.

I think they should make a Disney park in South America so the people down there can have as much fun as the people that live near the parks.

It would be hard to construct a Disney on Africa and make a profit from it, there's a lot of poverty there and most of the ppl won't be able to afford a single visit. That is so sad :(

I don't dispute this, but its not enough to create something family oriented for a culture that might be the same way. You still have to have something that people will visit and can visit.

TDL works because it is idealy suited and designed to get a lot of visitors from Tokyo.

DLP "works" as well as it does because its not just trying to get French citizens, but also anyone from Europe. It was located relatively centrally to most European countries in a way that the relatively open borders could handle.

The American parks work because of the ease of travel within the US, and the relative ease from other countries. But the Florida park is much more sensitive to this than Anaheim - as was shown after September 2001 when travel was way down.

I don't know how easy it is to travel between South American countries, nor how much a single country would send to a park in its country - but I imagine both situations are not as promsing as any of the above countries that currently have Disney parks.

I think all of these are true to some degree. Although I wonder why you think Disney would "spend money" on a South American park when they built DCA, DSP, and HKDL very much on the cheap. The only park in the past 5 years they haven't built "on the cheap" was DisneySea, and they didn't pay anything for it.

 That was not my understanding. What I had heard was that DL was an underperformer because it only catered to local visitors - and this is why they built DCA. WDW has traditionally made a lot of money, but they completed phase 1 of Pop Century in the middle of a travel bust and suffered from this. (DL didn't suffer as much, due to the aforementioned locals.)

TDL, of course, is pure profit for Disney. They don't own it, so they charge expenses and licensing for anything they do there. Unfortunately, that means they also don't actually make a lot of profit from it.

How can the Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World, which is the world's number one visited park, not give Disney the most profit, unless you have a link to a site as to where you got that info., then I say it's just your personal opinion (Don't state it as a fact)...

Haven't you heard of how badly Disney's California Adventure is doing (only 5.6 million visitors), it's giving nothing but headaches to the Walt Disney Company...

While all the Walt Disney World parks are successful... :mickey2:
