I havent updated to it, I really dont see the big deal with it yet and I think they still are fixing some last bugs that pop up. And the fact that they offer a program to load stuff from a flashdrive so the computer will run faster made me 2nd guess them with this new OS about its performance and how much memory it takes up, but ask others, They probally know more about it than me

I have it and its on a laptop. Its absolutely wonderful! I have had no issues with it what so ever. It will take you a bit to get used to but after that its great to have.

its only bad when you install it onto an old computer, new ones have no problem. I still like Mac better though.

I would reccomend you having AT LEAST 1.0 GB of RAM. And a 1-4GB spare memory card, for ReadyBoost.

Yes, you need more RAM for this one. I've heard they fixed a lot of the bugs. I don't have Vista yet though. However, I'm wondering when I'll need to get it. Games are already being made for Vista only (Shadowrun, Halo 2) so eventually you'll have to upgrade.

I just hope the next Need for Speed isn't Vista only!

Hey, thanks for all the replies :)

i made the thing pretty sweet (put 2 GB of RAM), so hopefully its smooth sailing..

I take it then, that VMK works fine with it?

I forgot to put this in any of my posts, so here goes.

a)do any of you guys here have it? Yesh
2)how does vmk and vmk pal work with it? VMK's loading speed is about the speed of a Mac loading it.
c)is it really as bad as they say? Some parts are worse.

How is yours on start up speed ;)

Is that hinting towards a slow startup? <g>

I don't have it, but I have used it. Let me say that it IS an improvement upon XP. However, it is not a big enough improvement to pay $130 to upgrade, but if you are buying a new computer, then having Vista on it is great! Some of the pretty (i.e. AERO) might not work if your computer isn't powerful enough or if you only have the "Home Basic" version.

I have found nothing wrong with it except Java and Some GDL Animated games.

a)do any of you guys here have it? No, my grandma does and i helped her use it though.
2)how does vmk and vmk pal work with it? Don't know that answer
c)is it really as bad as they say? It isn't that it's bad. It's just something you have to get used to. I personally, am a bigger fan of xp then vistas. I love how everything works. The negative side to having a vista is their is alot of things you can't upload because some websites are still making the downloading adjustable to Windows Vista. Most have already like your average and important websites such as Shockwave or adobe. But as for other small downloading sites it sometimes will not work since it doesnt work with vista since its 6 months old. The thing i do like is it's modern. But my grandma's takes long to load and she has nothing on it except wordpad and internet. lol. So i really don't know for me i'm more of an XP type-a person (:

The startup speed now is about the speed of Windows 98 or 95. Windows XP has been the fastest one on the market (with the exception of Mac) to start up and log on.

My old laptop (with XP) took about 10 minutes to fully start up. Hated that thing
