View Full Version : Disneyland Quests Ending Today (06/03/07)! *merged*
sunnyskye 06-03-2007, 12:38 PM Well, today is the day when Disneyland Quests will be no longer. If you live near there, you might want to go up there and get all the cards you can! If anyone goes today, can you tell me if they are giving all their cards in big amounts to people, to get rid of them?
Centurey 06-03-2007, 01:10 PM -Sigh- We will miss you, vmk central...
skate_bored 06-03-2007, 01:24 PM Bye quest cards. :(
dragnfly-princess 06-03-2007, 03:37 PM I asked once before when the original three quests were pulled about the left over cards.
The CM I spoke with said that they could not hand out those cards and that they were sending them back to the creaters of the game.
Destination 06-03-2007, 04:31 PM Bye Vmk Central We'll Miss U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

reoking 06-04-2007, 02:58 AM Was curious if anyone new what was going on outside Innoventions by the kiosk this afternoon. Had 2 DLR security, 2-3 Innovention CM's walking back and forth from the kiosk to the security group, then had what looked like a Innoventions manager as well standing around intently discussing something. Saw them out there later as well minus the security.
Alas, 06/03/07, DLR VMK RIP!
ParamoreGal 06-04-2007, 03:03 AM Might be adding/taking away VMK cards or deciding VMK's future.
gabyta 06-04-2007, 03:11 AM aww, a sad day for DLR ppl :(

Malatariel 06-04-2007, 04:30 AM It's CLOSING???
Neoteny 06-04-2007, 04:37 AM Some sort of protest, maybe? Somebody trying to steal all the leftover cards? No idea.
dragnfly-princess 06-04-2007, 04:39 AM Well...just got back from DLR and zippo, nada, nothing!!
It's over :(
The CM today had the audacity to tell me that I could only redeem my quests once every 60 days!!
Tell me, where will the kiosk be in two more weeks?!?!
They had so many cards left over in the drawer!!
I don't understand :(
SuperBillyHill 06-04-2007, 05:13 AM I wonder if they still have animator desk cards at the Animation building in DCA?
reality 06-04-2007, 06:02 AM I was there today also as a last ditch effort to try to turn in more quests. VMK actually had the longest line I have ever seen this afternoon, it went completely across the isle where the VMK kiosk stands (stood :(), The CM did tell us, as well, that it was quests for every 60 days...well that's over.
Sad day at DLR - unhappy VMKers - What was really sad was when I saw this family turning in a quest and they had the wrong answer on 1 get turned away..
The line did get very talky with bummed questers but I didn't see the security come in.
Went to California Adventure to take our stress out on California Screamin'!

p.s. Dude trading fastpasses for quest card codes, hope you had luck!!
teatrain 06-04-2007, 06:14 AM good bye DLR quests. i will always have great memories of completing the quests and going on the insider tour. :)
autoalice 06-04-2007, 06:23 AM We made a special trip to DLR last Friday night to turn in our quests, after a long day at Star Wars Celebration 4 at the convention center in Los Angeles.
Man did that make for a long day! The kids were already done and could not understand why we could not ride any rides (going back to C4 next day and still needed to drive home and get some sleep LOL) But I got my last set of cards for the family which I'm glad about. It is the only set of red space suit I got as well as the Mickey TVs. We hadn't been in since they came out.
I will miss the quests. My kids liked doing them. Yes, I got help from here but we did try our best to do them ourselves first.
I really wonder what they plan for the rest of the Mickey furniture.
Neoteny 06-04-2007, 08:15 AM Dude trading fastpasses for quest card codes, hope you had luck!!
That sounds like something I would have done. Yes, I'm that pathetic.
I really wonder what they plan for the rest of the Mickey furniture.
My guess is that the plans for them have not changed, aside from the fact that they'll only be distributed at Walt Disney World, instead of at Disneyland as well.
Jacques 06-04-2007, 01:40 PM Cards will be sent to Florida. Quests will be thrown away. Booth is due to be removed on the 6th, to be replaced by the Submarine-shaped vehicle to promote the new attraction.
And no, they didn't give out any extra cards 'just because'. :(

And no, they didn't give out any extra cards 'just because'. :(Yeah, the new Submarine attraction is going to need a lot of help. I'm sure nobody's even heard about it yet. That's a much better use of that space.
Jacques 06-04-2007, 02:02 PM Subs draws people. VMK does not. Simple.
Kitri 06-04-2007, 02:09 PM I wonder what their going to do with the stand....? Maybe they'll put it on eBay. If they doo, I'm soooo offering for it!
dragnfly-princess 06-04-2007, 02:11 PM Some people inside Innoventions were also saying that a few computers will be moved up to the
top floor so people can still log in while at the park. They also mentioned that the first floor of the
place was going to be gutted in July for some new feature. :(
reoking 06-04-2007, 02:56 PM Funny thing about their big meeting going on there with security. When one of the CM's came over to the kiosk, they told the CM handing out cards to take his time, and he got on the phone, and stuff. Then they ran out of red space magic just before we got to the counter. Seemed like the Innovention CM's were agitated about something, but never talked to anyone in the line.
CooledCoyote 06-04-2007, 03:48 PM I wonder if they still have animator desk cards at the Animation building in DCA?
I think so, that and the magic mirror card at least. It is only quests and redeemed printouts that are no longer in DLR.
hulajenny 06-04-2007, 03:52 PM I think so, that and the magic mirror card at least. It is only quests and redeemed printouts that are no longer in DLR.
Yes, we went yesterday, and I was able to get some animator's cards. I took all that she had left.
TLynn 06-04-2007, 04:27 PM I spent a while talking with a CM at Innoventions yesterday and got the impression from him that they have known since the seasonal cards were announced that VMK wouldn't last out the year at DLR. Although they were supposed to get those cards out quicker so the DLR visitors would maybe only miss out on the fall card. He also commented on how Compaq wasn't giving them any help any more maintaining the laptops, so I wonder if they will actually keep any VMK computers going.
Schmoofy 06-04-2007, 04:55 PM Subs draws people. VMK does not. Simple.
Very good statement. What Disney park freak doesn't think about the subs daily? If I were to head out to DLR this summer (if VMK wasn't leaving) it'd be for the subs, not VMK.

Mmmm subs, extra cheese hold the pickles.
I still think it stinks that you guys lost your quests but apparently they felt the sub would be a better use of the space for the time being. You know it's all about location, location, location. :D
TLynn 06-04-2007, 05:47 PM If you look at the VMK site today, it looks like the people on the VMK side forgot to tell the Disney Park side folks to update their pages. It still says
Play the Tomorrowland Quest now at Disneyland & Walt Disney World!
As well as still having links to the Disneyland quest pdfs. I would have thought that by this time they would have tried to have those references removed.

Wow, a Cast Member giving out honest, candid information? Guess he doesn't want to work there anymore.
autoalice 06-04-2007, 06:16 PM That's almost as helpful as some of their canned responses to the "contact us" button @_@
I also have no idea how on earth keeping them at WDW but not DLR was a good idea. Now I wish we were joining my hubbie on his work trip to Florida coming up, but we couldn't fit it in the budget right now :(
MorganM 06-04-2007, 06:27 PM Hi,
I went yesterday. They were being very strict about the cards. No one got any extras, and if they saw you helping someone else, they were saying no cheating!! :(

That's not very Disney. :(
EragonFan 06-04-2007, 06:37 PM O.o, people weren't given cards if they missed one question?! At WDW a few weeks ago, I got one question wrong and was told that I had two more chances to get the correct answer. What's up at DLR? As for the no cheating thing, I had no problem with that a few weeks ago at WDW...I filled out the quests for everyone. I wonder if the cast members were also mad about VMK closing...

I actually think that some are glad that they will no longer have to interact as they had to when they had kiosk duty! Some CM's were really cool, while others you could tell didn't care.
You would think with the way they were acting yesterday with the cards and questions, that it was coming out of their personal paycheck!

You seem to miss whats going on? This was no problem at Disneyland either. In fact I gave answers and a filled out sheet in front of the Kiosk to some kids who didnt print out at home. It was never said no cheating and once I had to ask a cast member for an answer because the clue for pirates is in the que and since my husband is in a wheel chair we never enter the que so they gave me that answer for free.
These people are talking about the last day reactions and how the cast is acting. YOu cant compare a few weeks ago at WDW to The last day at disneyland.

I understand that...but no matter what the cast members should not have been acting like that. I am just surprised at how the cast members acted...
NaviMap 06-04-2007, 07:06 PM This is a reminder that this is a thread to discuss about VMK Central and the Quests ending. Ranting about cast members, Disneyland, VMK staff, etc. over the closing of VMK Central in Disneyland is not appropriate and won't be allowed in this thread.
There is already a thread in the Rants group forum here that goes over this:

Please leave the Ranting out of this thread.

And to think that all I wanted to know was if someone knew what the show of force was going on yesterday. What with 2 security, 3 Innovention CM's, and a Innnoventions Manager not once, but twice outside by the que for the kiosk.

timmyastro 06-04-2007, 11:36 PM Aww and i was there yesterday also... so now its gone?
sunnyskye 06-04-2007, 11:40 PM Apparently. I bet they packed up the Kiosk this morning.
rollercoastrfrk..mike 06-05-2007, 12:12 AM lame that they are doing this lol
think quest items will get a little more rare?
I hope they do keep the computers running. I spend hours in that tower just making... yeah I can't continue that statement. I may take friends w/ me to Disneyland and they might want to play there and get a Born In Park badge. DLR is my closest Disney Resort, and it isn't that far away. I was appauled that only a week before I just booked my reservations for my birthday at the DLR Hotel that they discontinued stitch there. The first time i stay at that hotel hoping to finally get stitch, I realize now that I have to trade for it like most people. Insanity I tell you... LOL! Thats just my feedback about this whole thing. Disney can afford to fund the computers, they can also afford to send out Quest cards. For those of you who take more than you deserve of Quest cards, such as 40+ of any quest card at one time, you are running Disney out of the resort for doing so. Cast members who handed me 50+ GOLD DOORS from Monsters Inc because people did not want them may have been generous, but generous with something that could have been useful to not only me but 49 others that they ran out of cards for.
Forwalt 06-05-2007, 03:28 AM So Sad :( Bye runaway Bryan!
Elysabeth 06-05-2007, 03:29 AM Subs draws people. VMK does not. Simple.
Not true. I just renewed my pass and my father's pass with the major reason being VMK!!! I didn't want to miss out on any cards. There was almost always a line to turn in quests so, sorry, but I have to disagree with you.
Also, last time I was there, one CM suggested that there is a rumor that they might put in an automated kiosk for turning quests in. Anyone else heard this????

Ok, so there's two... You've completely disproved my theory :wave2:. The line of twenty or so VMK'ers is no match for the 4+ hour wait that Subs is anticipating.
Also, last time I was there, one CM suggested that there is a rumor that they might put in an automated kiosk for turning quests in. Anyone else heard this????
I've heard this as well. Most likely just a CM rumor. They really are kept in the dark as far as park changes such as this. I really wish it were true, but I highly doubt it.
Personally, I wouldn't be suprised if, sometime in the future, they bring back quests "by popular demand". They'll do one or two, possibly with a special tour, like the HM & Pirates tours, as those were successful and- more importantly- made money.

How did they make money? The tour was free.
