I was there two weeks ago and to be honest I never saw the ride you mentioned. Where is this new ride located in EPCOT?

If it is in the Mexican land, where there is a river boat ride, then it is not open as we went in there to do that ride and it was closed down.

At first it was supposed to open on the 1st, then the 2nd, now who knows when, I guess maybe the 6th. Yes it's taking over the Mexico Rio del Tiempo ride.

From what I understand it is not going to open until April 6. This will be replacing "El Rio Del Tiempo" in Mexico.

Wait! My La lalalalala song is going away? Ahh, that was such a fun song and I love the OLd footage of the Mexican dancers. (Oh and the woman trying to sell us items) Day of the Dead...the screen on the floor where you saw the swimmer...Oh..and the fireworks on the ceiling.

Honestly, the ride will be missed, but I am sure they can make the ride more fun. I just hope they keep SOME of the educational aspect of it as well.

(Lil secret...some of us cast use to open one if the backstage doors a bit to that ride just to hear the Lalalala music because it always made us smile)

Wow. This is the first I've heard of this - and I'm disappointed. The Rio del Tiempo ride was my second favorite (behind Maelstrom). I always referred to it as "it's a small world - mexican style". I will truly miss it!

I spoke to someone at Disney who said it was set to open in the next several weeks. When I was at Epcot yesterday, the ride was still being "refurbished" and the times guide set it was going to open in the early part of April. Now?

The ride was supposed to open last sunday. Sadly it didnt but did open. The thing is I left WDW yesterday the day it opened. So I have to wait another two months to ride it! lol guess its not so long. But anyway I think all they did was put up animatronics and stuff themed to it. I did get some picture of the loading dock during their final testing on thursday.

I just watched the video on another site. Nothing's really changed, except for the title of the ride (Grand Fiesta Tour w/ Three Caballeros), and the fact that they appear for 2-3 seconds in every "picture" of the ride.

Do the "Caballeros" at least provide some humorous commentary?

Yes, I've seen video :) There's also some good physical humor with Donald interacting with scenes in Mexico like the mariachi band. Pretty much what has changed is every prat where they used to have video of something in Mexico, it has changed to something with the three caballeros. The story is that Jose Carioca and Panchito are welcoming everyone to Mexico, and they go to introduce their pal Donald, but he's lost in the sights of the country. You follow him through Mexico. Some of the scenes, like the cliff divers and the scuba diving, have stayed pretty much the same but have added Donald into them. The campy little carousel at the end has been replaced with a video of the three caballeros. The fireworks are still there, the "small world-esque" scene is still there (minus the lalalalala song, a different instrumental mariachi tune plays throughout the entire ride, and several banners and such are added), the temple is still there, and all the screens are still in the same location. They are just replaced with different video. The map at the end has slightly changed. It highlights the cities that you went to throughout the ride and has a little "Greetings from Mexico!" sign with the three caballeros at the end. I loved the old attraction, and I think that this was a pretty good change.

Wow...I've never heard of this. I'll really miss El Rio del Tempo! There are two good things out of it--1) it's still located within the resteraunt pretty much for easy access 2)Disney isn't promoting it too much which means shorter lines. However, once everyone finds out, there will be actual lines for that ride! Normally you can run through the lines without crashing into people in front of you (because there are none!)

And now a farewell poem....

We'll miss the song
We'll miss the bones
Without this ride, we're all alone.
We'll miss the dancing
And all the fun
It will be missed by everyone.
El Rio del Tempo
We love you so
But now it's time that you must go.
We'll miss the swimmer
And the marienette carousel,
We've laughed, we've cried,
But for now,
FAREWELL.

WE'LL MISS YOU EL RIO DEL TEMPO!!!!!!!

EDIT: oh, whoops! NVM most of that stuff will still be there!

The parrot is Jose Carioca, and the rooster is Panchito. Unfortunatly, I don't live close, to WDW, Disneyland Resort is where I go, but anyways, I'm going to have to watch it over the computer.

Not many people to sit next to you. No chairs are near eachother. I guess that's it.

Well it's worse than the last one.
I rather see Mexico not cartoons.
The old ride set the mood.
