I found that while browsing the instructions, it says on Level 2 watch out for whirlpools and sea monsters...I have not seen a sea monster at all and I have played Level 2 around 15 times....

Cool! At one point shiregirl sent me a picture of this, but if she ever posted it on the forum I can't seem to find it. I would bet that most people haven't run into the monster yet...nice work to get a screenshot! I too have played Level II in pirates probably 15-20 times, but I haven't seen the monster. Any idea if you can interact with the monster like you can with the whirlpool (i.e. shoot at it or take damage from it), or is it just an ambient animation?

Im sure the sea monster can hurt you but I don't think it can hurt it. Someone should play level 2 now (since were out of beta) and see if they added the sea monster...

I unfortunately got the sea monster the first time I played level 2 back when we did the "Help the pirates challenged get pins" event. I went over to see what it was, and it ate me. :rolleyes:

Oh dear! Fortunately that didn't happen to me, but I'm not sure if I was close enough to it for that to happen.

I met up with the Sea Monster when I was playing alone in a level 2 game.

I had one ship left and it ran up to the top left corner and just waited for me to come get him. Then guess what happened? I took the bait and ran right into the Sea Monstor...then quickly died. :(

I didn't do any damage but then I hardly ever do. :D

I think I saw him again on another game in the level but I got away that time.

So you never know where you will find him...he's like the Loch Ness Monster.

the first time i saw one was when i did my first solo (i do not know why people think that if you do it together it is better.) anyways, there was a swirly thing in the water and i was all like whats that. one of the pirate ships touched it, and thenit popped up, i only saw it once ever since

after playing over 100 games of the pirates, i have only came across him three times, and i let him eat me one of the times to see him in action, he is pretty feroicious if you can manage to have one of your enemy's come across him while chasing you, he will get them good.

It only happens during level two, it seems to only come during the last thirty seconds or so, before and after it pops up you see a small whirlpool, and it's usually around the edge of the screen in one of the corners. Keep your eyes out folks, they can and will damage your ship.

I'm glad the Seamonster strikes fear into the hearts of mortal men.

I've never come across the "other" seamonster in the game. Ironic, don't you think?

Me Too. Seen it three times. Once by myself and twice with other players. I did not get devoured though! I ran away like a little girl!

I've seen the monster as well. Popped up level 2 near the skull in the lower ?left part of the screen. Lucky for me, it wanted to eat Blue team computer ships that day -- got him real good.

Made me wish we could get at our in-game cameras. We should get extra points for having pictures in our album of Bigfoot (Yeti), the Loch Ness Monster, and Aliens (I got a shot of a green guy wearing the spacesuit in Central Plaza), don't you think?

LOL. Anyways, I love Lessie. The monster really helps out when you're in dire need of ammo. I managed to have an enemy pirate ship follow me and lured that computer player into the clutches of the Leviathan.

i saw the monster many times while playing to get a level 2 pin. but i didn't go near it and neither did the other ships. good to know it can wreck the ship!

i also had an experience like wdwr with an enemy ship going to the top right just behind the island and waited for me to go after him. difference was no bessie to devour me. i did find it wierd that it only happened once in the 15 games.

Woot woot! I finally got past Level 3 and got all my badges and my now-prized possession: an invisibility magic pin!

Strangely enough, I never once saw the sea monster while playing. I *did* take note that on Level 2, one of the areas of the ocean is called "Dead Man Way", which makes me think of the title of the PotC sequel, "Dead Man's Chest".

Thanks for all the info on the sea monster, everyone! Thankfully I didn't have to utilize it! lol

The first and only time I saw the sea monster was when I was playing the computer and he ate one of the opposing team ships.
It was so awesome!
Now I see his tell tale white circle near the edges of the water I know what it is.
It makes me so happy.

The onyl time I saw the sea monster I ran very close to him (or her) and for some reason the encounter made me invincible. Unfortunately, it also made me that I couldn't pick any more ammo. I just had to wait the two minutes for the round to end. Very peculiar.

who bumped the old thread... oh well thanks i guess this gave me major inspiration for VMK the movie.
