View Full Version : BLAB Strategies
TheMoth 05-03-2007, 10:20 PM Hey I'm going to DL and im trying to remember some good ways to rack up points on Buzz. I remember some triangles in the speed tunnel, but which Zurg has the tiny target on his belt? Any additional secret targets would be great. Thanks
iLoveTheRain 05-03-2007, 10:49 PM In the tunnel leading to the last room, there are three triangles hidden in the darkness: 1 up on the roof, one to the left and one to the right.
Also, on both Zurgs there is a small hole in the center of his chest. If you can shoot directly into his chest, it is alot of points. I want to say 1 million, but that may only be for the last one, which is much more difficult to hit.
And I think (it's been a while since I rode that ride) in the first room, if you turn around, on the back side of the punching machine's hand is a nice point booster. Or maybe it's a target behind Zurg. I really can't remember http://www.ilovetherain.com/Emote/mii.gif
-edit-
On the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin there is a target in the first room worth 100,000 points. When you enter the first target room there will be an orange robot on your left. As you pass, spin around and shoot at the target on it's left arm. Each hit is worth 100,000 points. I maxed out the score at 999,999 before leaving the room. You don't get anything except the satisfaction of being a Space Commander.

lol in the beginning if u start shooting at the car in front of you, you get points :D
there's one i think it is 2,000 but i dont know if they've changed it, but
it's a blue robot that has razor blades, there's a target moving in circles on left the razor blade. that i got the highest score by just shooting at that for the whole time I was in that room
Neoteny 05-04-2007, 03:29 PM It also helps when the ride stops moving for a few minutes while you're right in front of a high-scoring target. See if you can arrange that.
jsmall 05-04-2007, 05:38 PM I enjoy turning the car backwards and shooting the little laser at my sister. Thats always fun.
iLoveTheRain 05-04-2007, 06:10 PM Mmm. Burning retinas. There's nothing finer http://www.ilovetherain.com/Emote/Pac.gif

TheMoth 05-04-2007, 09:53 PM Thanks for the tips guys!
i also heard that every few misses you get some sympathy points. This is so that really little kids can shoot the blasters at anything and still end up with some points and not a fat zero.

While that may be true, I don't think it's the best strategy....
TikiRoom 05-05-2007, 12:02 AM Hey I'm going to DL and im trying to remember some good ways to rack up points on Buzz. I remember some triangles in the speed tunnel, but which Zurg has the tiny target on his belt? Any additional secret targets would be great. Thanks
Well, for the Zurg button thing, it is on both Zurgs, and is on the chest. Yes, you get point for every... I don't know how many shoots, but you get 500, I believe, points. Something like that. Also, triangles are worth most, diamonds second, squares third and circles give the least points. Lite up ones are worth more. I guess that's it...
LordIllidan 05-05-2007, 05:20 AM At the very end, where Zurg and Buzz are fighting, about 3/4ths of the way, there will be an orange robot with a circular target behind you. Shoot that, and a LGM will pop out with a Triangle Target (>^.^)>
I never knew about the super 100,000 point target. Is that there on purpose, or is it a glitch?
matterhornmaniac 05-06-2007, 06:07 PM the 100,000 point thing is only on the BLAB at WDW, not DLR
TheMoth 05-07-2007, 04:38 AM http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/waffen/violent-smiley-062.gifSo i just returned from DL and i tried some of the posted strategies. Firt time around... worst score i've gotten ever. Next time i went around, very much better! I got 7 million.
Just kiddin. But i have discovered that when Zurg is operating his big space monster in the final room, if you hit all the targets on the monster, you get a 100,000 point bonus. This leads me to believe that there are other "combos" located throughout the ride. Maybe hitting all the batteries, all the targets on the gigantobot, boxobot, planet Z monsters, etc... Try it out!!! I wont be going back until WDW in the summer. Good Luck Space Raners http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/waffen/violent-smiley-062.gif
Neoteny 05-07-2007, 04:14 PM Somebody's got to have posted a complete guide somewhere on the 'Net. Anybody up to looking for it?
MissyMiss 05-07-2007, 04:48 PM I know! I know!!
Get in line about 10 cars behind someone in a wheelchair so the ride stops when they exit! Other than that, I'm no help. :D I don't usually make it on the high-score list. If you're looking for one, there are a few guides online that might be helpful.
Sigh, I miss Disneyland...
TheCoasterNut 05-17-2007, 06:52 PM BLAB has got to be one of my favorite attractions. . .Anyway on to the important stuff
Disneyland Version
First things first. ALL targets in the attraction are marked by either a Triangle, Diamond, Square, or Circle. The only targets that aren't marked are the two secret targets on Zurg's chest. Points are as follows:
Circle 100
Square 1000
Diamond 5000
Triangle 10000
Secret 50000
Lit targets award bonus (double?) points
Also, you are awarded 100 points for every 6 misses in a row
As you can see there is no reason to ever shoot a circle target unless it is part of a sequence. The sequence targets are as follows: (this list is possibly incomplete, any help from recent space cadets would be greatly appreciated)
In the second room their is a row of batteries that fall down after being shot. Behind the Square one there is a Diamond on the wall
On Planet Z shooting the Square on the Alien in the Box will open the lid. Shooting the Diamond on the lid will cause a Triangle to pop up momentarily, then the whole sequence resets. But you don't have to wait for it to reset before you can start the sequence again.
On Planet Z, just past the Alien in the Box their are targets (Circles?) on both walls that when shot will cause a Diamond to pop up for a very brief moment before disappearing again.
In the final showdown just past the midway point of the room their is a spacesuit behind you with a (Circle?) that when shot a Little Green Man pops up holding a Triangle
The infamous secret targets are located inside the seam where the two halves of Zurg's breastplate meet. On the attraction you will see an extremely small opening, that is your target.

Shoot between those metal plates.
Assorted Tips
If the ride slows or stops, find the highest scoring target you can easily hit from your position, and unload on it. You will still accumulate points while the ride is stopped.
When trying to hit the secret target on the first Zurg, keep in mind that shooting the Squares on either side of his platform will cause him to turn that direction. This can be used to keep him facing you, or to keep someone else in your group from scoring.
Don't forget about the three Diamond targets on the walls in the hyperspace room. They are the same color as the walls, but light up when hit.
Know when you are hitting a target, that way when you are shooting at a target that is broken, you will immediately notice and be able to change targets without wasting precious time.
It goes without saying that the most important thing to do is practice practice practice.
More tips, and a complete walk through of how I play coming soon.

See ya Space Rangers
TheMoth 06-19-2007, 06:00 PM Ok so i have an update for you guys. I went yesterday and i'm very proud to say that i broke 1 million for the first time ever. :) I'm also very confident in saying that i was right in my most recent post. I was right about the "combos" Try hitting every target on a certain object. Depending on the object you will most likely get some kind of bonus.
