Please note this is not a story about VMK, it's a short story about a cat. Please don't just pass it by cause it's not a VMK story, I tried my hardest and I think it's good.

The Smell of the Roses

Part 1

Small Augustine woke up to a slight cool breeze coming from her den, and the bright pink and orange colors of the sunrise peeping through the small hole in her den. She got up and slowly stretched out her tense muscles she had gotten over night.

Suddenly, she remembered her mother and jerked her head all around to den, but she was not there. Augustine couldn't help but mourn for her mother. Her mother didn't survive a dog attack when she was only a kitten. The dog got loose from one of the human places and found her mother when she was collecting berries. She remembered the cat teeth around the collars and how it frightened her so. All Augustine could remember about her mom was the sweet smell she smelled like, roses, and how even on the coldest nights, her warm flank would warm Augustine up.

Augustine was ready for breakfast so she decided to go out and get some berries. The best way to the giant berry bush was to go past the human nests and follow the river through the forest. She started off to the human nests. Augustine remembered how she was first born as a kitten in a human nest but her and her mom escaped the life of dry nasty smelling pellets and the bitter tasting water. Right after they found the den in the forest, is when her mom died.

As Augustine drifted off in thought, her paws carried her into the forest to get the berries. Suddenly, Augustine stopped. She smelled something foul but oddly familiar in the air. Shrugging it off, she continued again, her paws feeling lighter than air. She couldn't help but noticing though, that foul and familiar stench was getting closer. She got to the clearing were the berries where and froze. Across the clearing, was the dog a huge dog. On it’s collar, was the teeth of cats.

Anyone have any feedback I can work with for Part 2?

Tomorrow I'll just write part 2 and finish the story since it looks like I'm not going to get any feedback.

Part 2

Slowly, the dog turned around showing its yellow teeth. It was four times her size with brown and black fur. Its muzzle was squished up against it’s face and his nose was wrinkled from his open, terrifying mouth. That’s the dog that hurt mother, Augustine thought, and its time for my revenge. She started to approach the dog and it did the same. Her brown and black speckled fur prickled in the wind as it stood on end. Her back was arched into a perfect “C” and her eyes were narrowed and filled with the pride of both her mother and father. As the two got closer, they started to circle around each other.

Tension was growing high, and Augustine was growing anxious. But she stood her ground knowing this battle would determine the rest of her life. Augustine remembered once more when she was a kitten, what happened when she wandered from her home. She came to the front yard of her human nest and as she walked down the concrete path in the top she found another one intersecting. There she was almost run over by a human running with her dog. Then there was the black concrete. Hugh monsters with red, bright eyes blinded her and spat black gas out of its rear end.

She snapped herself back into focus and realized she should probably get this battle started. She gave a low challenging hiss and tried not to make it sound to provocative, but that set him off. He gave a powerful lunge toward Augustine and pinned her down on the ground. She struggled to get free as he gave powerful strikes to her open belly, face, and shoulders. Thinking quickly she bit as hard as she could on his tail that was hanging down to his right side. He squealed and pulled back.

Augustine sat down as he recovered, recovering herself. The pain was excruciating. But suddenly, she felt a warm breeze go against her right side and the smell that came with the breeze, was roses. The smell was almost overwhelming and the breeze was so comforting. She realized that she wasn’t fighting this fight alone anymore. Her mother was right beside her, no matter if Augustine could see her.

With the strength of a hundred cats, and her mother by her side, Augustine flung onto the dog’s back, digging her nails into his skin, and gave him a hard bite on his neck. The dog shook her off, squealed, and ran away. Augustine was shocked. For a moment, she sat there swaying the in the warm breeze and soaking in the scent of roses that was still there. She heard a soft purring in her ear, “Augustine your never alone.” With that, the breeze and scent was gone in a flash.

May be continued...

Great... just another feedbackless part. I will not be continuing the story as I don't get enough audience.
