View Full Version : My room + complaints about ppl in rooms :)
sonofshine 06-27-2005, 05:32 PM ok folks i am posting this thread for two reasons! 1. to tell you about my room 2.a complaint about the evil-er side of VMK and it's players!
1:My room
Ok my room is a teleporting game (one of the first actually :)) and i have 40+ coffin teleporters in the room. I currently dont have prizes (this room makes me poor lol) but is a fun (and sometimes very long for the player[s]) game :)
2:My complaint[s]
Ok i am very very very tired of people saying that my room is theres! Today some guy got in a long arguement with one of my friends who helps with the room. I booted the guy a little too late, because of my slow computer. I couldn't warn the guy or anything. I assume since he was booted from my room he now knows it isn't his lol.
So i beg of you ppl not to claim any room except for your own as your room :)
Now i would like to thank a few ppl for helping with the room:
Xtremedude-Gold Award
Xtremedude has really helped out alot! it is thanks to him that the room is in it's current shape and form :) he even gives out prizes for me a little too often and is responsible for 6+ pairs of teleporters that reside in my room, as well as several other items and ideas currently in use :)
Happysteve-Silver Award
His room helped inspire me to make the game as it is today :)
Canadian-Bronze Award
Canadian let me borrow a pair of two of coffin teleporters in the early stages of the game. Without canadian's help who knows if the game would still be as it is today :)
Indychick 06-27-2005, 05:42 PM sonofshine, I completely agree! People are rude sometimes when they come in your rooms! My big gripe is when someone I do not know at all comes in my room, doesn't say hello, and just gets in my teleporter! At one time I had a teleporter that was not connected anywhere (in other words I had used half of a pair) just so people who went in never got anywhere! That might sound silly but it brought me much joy for a day or two. Now Shorts and I put up ropes so people can't get in unless we want them to. It might sound silly, but if you want to go in my teleporter at least say hello to me first!
MrGenie 06-27-2005, 05:43 PM Sounds like a fun room! I still need to check it out.
Regarding your frustrations on people claiming that it is really their room, you can always remind people to click on the "i" in the left corner of the icon bar...this shows the room name, description, and the true room owner.
If you also concerned about people taking your idea and then accusing you of copying them, I would take heart in knowing that you were one of the first, and that "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery." Some people may be new to VMK and not realize you've been doing this for quite a while, so naturally they would think you copied them and could be annoyed if they are more interested in getting credit for their idea than just running a fun guest room.

Yes MrGenie this is true! I, for one, would feel pretty cool if someone copied me! But we all know that is not going to happen since I am such an utter dork! ;)

hehe thanks Mrgenie ^-^ I really like your room. The time i came in I was looking for the closing party or i would have stayed longer :) it was fun :)
You might have to wait a while if you plan on coming to my room for a game. I am on vacation and have a slow computer (evil evil evil) so i can't control the game as much as i like. It is chaos right now lol. :o

lol he heh he ^-^ you aren't a dork. :D
prisoner 06-27-2005, 05:51 PM I stopped by briefly earlier, and had a bit of fun before I had to go. Check out the game, since it is pretty fun. Reminds me a lot of the walk-through mazes you will often find at fairs and such, in spirit, if not actual implementaiton.

MrGenie 06-27-2005, 06:07 PM Sonofshine...I'd like to give you a helpful "forum tip" that I just figured out the other day myself: :)
When other people post replies in your thread and you want to respond to several of them, it's a lot better to do it all in the same post than to make multiple posts to comment on each one. To quote multiple people in the same reply, do this:
1) Start a new reply by quoting the person you want to reply to first.
2) Once you type the reply, COPY all of the text in your post (including the quote), but DON'T POST IT YET.
3) Go back to the original thread, find the next message you want to reply to, and click "quote" again on that message.
4) Into this new post, PASTE the stuff you copied from your first reply.
It's a little tricky, but not too bad...just make sure you preview first and fix any missing quote tags. You can also simplify the process by opening multiple windows (probably the easiest way is when you hit the quote button for the first time, right-click on it and select "open link in a new window").
Hope this helps! ;)

Looking forward to visiting your room sonofshine. Now, if only more people understood about that "I" info button below then things would not be so hard to explain all the time about whose room it is and all.
