View Full Version : My Family Won A Dream Prize!
Dizznygrl 04-16-2007, 03:58 PM This past Saturday, I was at WDW with my entire family. We were in Tomorrowland when a Dream Cast Member walked by. We said hello to her and she stopped to talk for a minute. I told her I'd noticed her because she has the same first name as me. She asked if we were staying for the Fireworks and we said, Of course! So then she asked us if we'd like to have VIP viewing of Wishes. Heck, yeah! There were ten of us, which is excatly how many they choose for this prize each night.
We were told to meet at the elevator by Astro Orbiter at about 9:30. We gathered there and were escorted up the elevator to a little area to the side of the ride. We had a perfect view of the castle, the gorgeous night sky and all the fireworks. It was amazing!!
Each member of the family received a Magical Gathering pin and a Magical Moments certificate. What a special treat!! I LOVE the Dreams Prizes! And I love that this was a prize I didn't even know about. What a great thing to do!

BonoGirl 04-16-2007, 04:39 PM Wow that is cool. Never thought of a viewing area up there. Congrats on winning.
SuperSnowCutie 04-16-2007, 04:46 PM Cool! My friend just went to Florida to Disney World... Maybe she'll get lucky, too!
Grooveygrl 04-16-2007, 04:55 PM Wow congrats CL_Dizznygrl =)
xigbar 04-16-2007, 04:58 PM We're going to Disney World with our cousins in september, and it's going to be so much fun! We're going to the all start sports resort, and we have all these character buffets - plus, I get to bring my special somebody!!!! - The only problem is that my cousins are in Connecticut, and they had to take a plane. Our family will be the only one at the hotel for about 5 hours! Anyways, that prize is really cool! We had that happen once to us, but it was a ride on the Tommorowland express, then stopped at a perfect spot to see the castle! While I'm there, I'll give alot of you some of the prizes you get - I don't go on vmk alot, I have no use for them :) -. Well I hope you had fun!
iamamoodygirl 04-16-2007, 05:00 PM Cool :) Just this past wednesday i went to DLR and we went to go eat at the plaza inn cafe for a salad and the dream members said we won a dream prize and they treated us like we were rich people But then at the very end they gave us the BILL (here we go thinking it was a dream prize)

So, what was your prize, then? I'm confused.

MasterMario 04-16-2007, 11:23 PM That's nice and cool. I didn't know they had A PRIZE TOO
Goofyono 04-16-2007, 11:49 PM she sounds like a very nice cast member :).. I bet If you didn't say hello or you didn't have the same first name, you wouldn't have gotten the dream prize lol
Neoteny 04-16-2007, 11:58 PM she sounds like a very nice cast member :).. I bet If you didn't say hello or you didn't have the same first name, you wouldn't have gotten the dream prize lol
Yeah, um, not to take anything away from your winning here (Congratulations, by the way!), but I thought the prizes were supposed to be awarded randomly by a computer, not just to whoever happens to stop and talk to the cast member handing out the prizes.

Probably not. I always talk to Cast Members. They are usually a lot of fun!

I'd like LadyVader to confirm this for me, but it's my understanding that the major prizes - like the castle - are done by computer, but the little things are at the discretion of the Dream Team. This is the fourth prize I've won. By far it's the nicest one. The others have been sweet little things that I'm quite sure were not chosen by a computer randomizer.
However, I did think about asking this woman if she were LadyVader, but I didn't so that it wouldn't compromise the prize if it turned out she was because she shouldn't be handing out prizes to people she knows, even if its from a computer forum.

Facnyface 04-17-2007, 02:39 AM Sounds intertesting but Universla Studios ((The One Right Next Door)) is doing the same thing...
Dizznygrl 04-17-2007, 02:47 AM Wow, Really!!??? Universal Studios is picking people at random to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks??
Facnyface 04-17-2007, 02:52 AM no not that, what i emnt wa universla studios is doing a smilar thing to the Year of a million dreams, another words, me and my dad got express passes good for 1 ride from The Blues Brothers appeartly we were ''chilllen on the sides'' as they put it bu tit was pretty neat...
JessCats 04-17-2007, 02:54 AM Congrats. Hope you enjoyed your prize.
DisneyHottie 04-17-2007, 03:14 AM So how does a computer pick a person in the whole park?
Facnyface 04-17-2007, 03:37 AM no. the cast member will walk up to some family anyone (hah had it done to mine tiwce now) and will say hey im so and so and you have been selected to be the .... for the year of a million dreams! i was next to the peopel that got seleteced to stay in the castle they said congrulations you have been our family to be selected to stay in cinderella's castle for one night for the year of a million dreams! if you ever look in my video thread you will notice that i have video of the family in there. we became friedns after the cast member had doen that but it was pretty awesome. they said ladys and gentelman boys and girls before we start the Disney Dreams Come True Parade we would like to announce the winnres of the stay in cinderella's castle ... from ... and the grand marshaels for today's parade is ... from ... as they help us celebrate a year of a million dreams ''dream on...'' then they pass by and the music continues to play until the exatc time of the parade (as said on cinderella's castle) then they go now play stand by as the Disney Dreams Come True Parade will be passing byt your location very shortly. then the parade starts and comes by but the dreams of the castle winners will have a blue mickey hat that has clousds and mickey on it when a casle behind it and said year of a million dreams with ther ename printed on the back ((i have one)) and the grand marshaels will get a blue mickey hat with there name on the back ((i have one))....
snowegoof 04-17-2007, 05:36 AM nope. every morning a computer randomizes winners and says "a cast member at 11:18 EST will choose the 3rd person who walk out of space ranger spin." if a cast member did it it woud show favoritism.
WDWLinny 04-18-2007, 03:59 AM Congratulations maybe one day i will be lucky enough to win a dream myself. :)

you sure of this? doesn't always happen this way...
EragonFan 05-25-2007, 04:30 AM First of all, even though I was told this a few weeks ago on the Keys to the Kingdom tour I've already forgotten, what are the uniforms of the Dreams cast members? Second, congrats on your prize. We have went to Disney many times and have yet to win anything(winning the stay at the castle would be SO COOL!) Third, a computer randomizes everything. I learned that on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. A company that Disney hires does a random computer process which is very exact. For example, a dreams cast member may be told "go to Big Thunder Mountian at 10:15 A.M. and talk to the person in the tenth row back in the second seat"
MinniesDream 05-25-2007, 04:39 AM I went to WDW, and I was waiting with my family for the gates to open. Suddenly, one of the people who ran the park told my family that she loved our shirts, so we got to go in the park early, and ride Tower of Terror. It was amazing; it was just my family and I, and no lines. The entire park to ourselves!
Anyway, congrats. Sounds like you had an exciting time.

MLKnCookies 05-28-2007, 08:31 PM in february in epcot, my dad went on the intense mission space and my sister and i went on the less intense. he got a magical moment fastpasses and he got three of them. also in magic kingdom a few days later we were so close to getting it the people right in front of us got something but i dont know what it was.
Faithrella 05-28-2007, 09:21 PM Congratulations! :) *sigh* To go to WDW for my family would be a treat by itself. We live very far away from either park, but I have been to WDW once. When I was seven. >_< lol But good for you. :) See? Dreams do come true!
bluebayougirl 05-30-2007, 05:20 AM Hmm, so am i right in guessing that there is absolutly nothing you can do to increase you chances of being selected for a dream?
Totorules 05-30-2007, 05:55 AM Cool. Wish I could go to WDW!
PrincessSofia 05-30-2007, 10:51 PM Sweetness! I'm going to DLR Soon. I wish I could get off of It's a Small World( Wich I am totally terrified of, now that I read Kingdom Keepers ) And they say that we get to stay in the Mickey Mouse Penthouse. that would be so totally awesome. But, what if you are just going to DLR for the day? What would you wear for PJS? And what if you have a dog @ Home? These things I must wonder....
Jimothy 06-01-2007, 06:34 PM Awesome! All i got was some pins.. heh.
SparklingRaiin 06-01-2007, 07:18 PM Wow! That is awesome =] The dreams prizes are so cool!

AlohaLiilo 06-04-2007, 09:44 AM I heard that penthouse at the top of the castle in WDW was originally build for Walt and his family to live in! Wonder what it looks like in there now that they've got it all set up for dreams

Acutally according to a tour guide of the Keys to the Kingdom tour, it used to be the break room for the castle performers until the were kicked out of there a year or so ago. After that, the suite(sp?) was remodeled for guests. Now the castle performers get a much smaller break room.
Here are some pictures (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1376512&postcount=11).
Thanks so much for linking to those pictures. I've always wondered what it looks like.
VWpunchbuggie 06-04-2007, 04:24 PM OMGAH! That sounds soo fun! I love how Disney World gives out stuff like that! When I went with my choir group, me and my friends got some free fast passes from this guy who worked there! It was soooo cool! :p
MagicMonkeys 06-04-2007, 04:37 PM I've won the FastPass Badge(MGM-Backlot Tour)and Lanyard(Epcot-Inneventions-Oppurtunity City). Thanks for sharing the pics JeannieV/Neoteny!
MinniesDream 06-04-2007, 04:54 PM What sort of shirts were you wearing?
I am supposed to be gone... but this is some very important stuff.
My dad had a navy blue shirt, my mother had a yellow shirt on, I had a white shirt, and my sister had a green shirt. They all had this on the front:
http://img510.**************/img510/8493/62746147ix0.png
They were just plain t-shirts. It was pretty cool.
disneycrazey 06-04-2007, 05:22 PM That is really cool! We go to DLR A LOT (Like three times a month!), and have only won two dreams! We won the pins and the fastpasses. The people i front of us going into city hall won a FREE dinner at Napa Rose, the really nice resteraunt at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. That place is REALLY expensive! But here is some info, when you win a big prize like that, they have you sign some papers, well not some A LOT!!! So I think that when you win something big like that you are ineligible to win another big thing like that. My two cents!
~PrinceTorre
TiniPink 06-04-2007, 05:39 PM A few months ago, my family went to WDW & I had read about the random Dream Prizes; so I was excited =D In Animal Kingdom, a Cast Member came up to us and I was thinking we won, but nooo, he wanted us to fill out a survey, rofl.
Congrats on your win!!

Just wondering what do the dream pins look like? Also, I doubt that they would limit one big prize per family. Now maybe one of each big prize I could see...but to get two big prizes you would have to be extemely lucky. To get two of the same big prize, you would have to be unbelievably lucky.
I know that Dream cast members have a different uniform, but I forgot what theirs look like...does anyone remember or know?
Edit: Are the pins the one with the year of a million dreams logo one with either mickey and minnie or goofy and donald on the sides of the pins?
Another edit: Never mind about the pins, I figured out which ones they are. I acutally got them trading with a cast member. I guess someone trade them to the cast member.
Neoteny 06-04-2007, 06:32 PM I just want the hat! We keep missing the hats by just a few minutes!

It looks so neat! Exactly how it should look, too!
VMKJen 06-05-2007, 03:14 PM Congrats on winning! Thats soo cool. I went to WDW in March of this year, but we didn't win.
PrincessSofia 06-09-2007, 05:11 AM Omg, I love the disney thing, Can I use it on my shirts for Disneyland? lol
Prep_gurl 06-09-2007, 05:20 AM Pretty sweet.. Semmed like fait to me i mean there were ten of you, she had same first name, you said hi to her!! Did you have loads of fun ?????

Actually it was the Castle at Disneyland where Walt's family was going to live.
Jonnyboi914 06-09-2007, 08:02 PM Actually it was the Castle at Disneyland where Walt's family was going to live.
Actually, Walt's apartment in DLR is located above the Fire House on their Main Street. The WDW Cinderella's Castle, do indeed have an apartment that was once going to house Walt and his family but he did pass away prior to the opening of WDW and therefore the apartment was used as central hub for the phone and power lines for the MK. Now it has been renovated to house a special family for a night stay inside Cinderella's Castle.
Have a Magical Day!

There are no VMK Dream prizes however you can do quests and buy random stuff to get awesome vmk stuff. You will be the envy of the kingdom.
MinnieMagic 06-10-2007, 04:43 PM We just got back from WDW a few days ago. While we were there my daughter won a dreams prize. We were on mainstreet, fairly late in the day, and my kids just love picking up that pixie dust off the ground. They had been doing it and all of a sudden a lady appeared and asked me if she could give my daughter a gift. I told her by all means and she presented my daughter with 2 pixie dust pins. One to keep for herself and one to give to someone else. She then preceeded to sprinkle the pixie dust over my daughter and sons heads. My daughter was just thrilled!

Wow. Too bad DLR is closest to me and my family so it'd be hard to round up ten people. I hope they do something like this at DLR soon! :) Congratulations though im sure it was a blast! That's awesome, VIP seating for the fireworks.

Well actually the whole story around Cinderella's Castle is:
When Walt Disney was alive, they Disney cast members were working on the room in Cinderella's castle to become Walt Disney's bedroom. But before the park opened and before the room was finished, Walt died. Then, the room became a room so the workers could come in, take a break, or make a phone call, etc. Then, they made it available to where people could have a stay in Cinderella's castle.

Yup. Shirts. I love the fact that they can make a park owner just open the gates for you, summon the ride operators, and let you ride rides all by yourself no charge.

thesimpson90 06-28-2007, 08:32 AM I just got back from the park and every time a cast member came up to us i thought we won a prize lol. This year though, maybe it was just me, the cast members all thought that when i said hi i was wanting a prize. Ive been 3 years in a row and i had always said hi and they were really nice and would say hi back and smile and sometimes we would have a conversation. This year most of the ones in magic kingdom just sounded annoyed. Maybe i just had bad luck and caught them all when they were busy. One time though i thought we honestly had one a prize because my grandma was with us and she had to rent a bugy thing to ride around in which she had her name on a nametag in front in the basket. We were riding through the magic kingdom and a cast member stopped us and he had stuff in his hands. He leaned over to my grandma and said "Virginia there is a santa clause" or something like that. I honestly thought he was about to give us something and my heart pretty much stopped but then he walked away. Turns out it was some quote thing or something that i had never heard of. Oh well i still had a fun trip. Finally started pin trading :)
