Hi All!

Thought I would like to take a shot at a new and improved window for the Character screen.

Instead of flipping through all the items one at a time, thought we could flip through many at one time (I have 7, but I don't know if they have a limit on the number of items on a screen). It would take less time to see many things at one time and for those hair styles, girls and boys, that don't allow for hats, you don't have to lose your hat when you pass it.

This interface shows everything on the left, and you select it by clicking on a hat etc. a yellow box highlights your selection and it shows in the normal white box on the right. When you use the up and down arrows to the right of the item it shifts the inventory items or appearance items to show the next or previous 7 items.

That about covers it other than labeling the hair and skin areas and moving things a little bit.

Hope you like it and hope VMK considers it.

Select the clothes in the regular tab areas, then go to the Outifts tab and Save the new outfit, or Use it. I hope you like it

I think this is a great idea (and wonderful work on the design of it!), but how about using tabs (similar to the inventory tabs) for hats, hair, head, tops, pants, and shoes, so that we could see even more items at a time? Just a suggestion.

Now this is the most awesome tool, in advance, that I have ever seen a player come up with! You gotta send this one in for sure! This would help make players change much faster and would be less afk's in some rooms.

Well the best creation program I have is PSP-X I can not really do much edit-wise with it. Anyway, this idea is great, and I cant get over how amazing the edit is!

It looks as if it IS real! unless you can hack into their systems to see the future LOL!

Great idea, like I said on the other post you should work for VMK as a consultant and thanks to the computer era you can do it from home. If I was Yavn and saw this, I would really think about it.

There may not be enough hats yet, but there will be more coming out. I seriously doubt we've seen the last hat ever.

And, ok, this is just nitpicking (as you've done a wonderful job), so feel free to ignore me, but shouldn't the hats be alphabetized? :Tongue:

Oh! And maybe the hair and skin colors could be chosen from palettes instead of by scrolling through them one at a time. (Ok, now I'm just being a pain, but really: I'm just trying to tweak your great idea and help you to make it even better!)

Just noticed: You're missing the black beret and the pink baseball (trucker?) cap. So there are enough hats to fill it!

This is a great idea! Then we will have less buttons, and see everyone at once.

This will also stop some bugs, like the left arrow button not working.

I really hope somebody who can do something about something sees what you've done. I don't imagine the coding would be all that difficult to implement this upgrade. There may be an issue of intellectual property ownership, but, heck, you deserve to be paid for this beautiful work!

Like everyone else here, practically, I applaud this feat of design and innovation.
Hopefully, as Neo wished, this idea will come into consideration by a certain someone of VMK.

Well, if you're going to call it "New Year's Hat," then it should come between the "New Orleans Beret Pink" and the "Peter Pan Hat." And now that I think of it, the "Year of a Million Dreams Ears" would more likely be called "Dreams Mickey Ears," to go along with the "Dreams Shirt" and other Dreams items, so it should be moved between the "Donald Duck Hat" and the "Feather Mask Purple." Have you figured out yet that I'm just giving you a hard time? I still like best the version in Post #45. Not that I don't think your own original designs for hats aren't great, but why clutter up the example by introducing new hats as well as the new interface? ;)

I do assume that those arrows are just there for decoration (and to poke fun at the noobs who'll think VMK has once again frozen :D), and when you click on the hat, it opens up another popup containing all the hats currently in your inventory (And same going for all the other types of items, each opening the corresponding popup containing the corresponding items), right ?

It picks everything, if you don't like it just keep clicking. Millions of combinations - but you'll have to click more than that to get what you want.

The ideas are quite clever as usual ;) Now waiting for the day VMK shows some regard for the thought put into it. This is would simplify things greatly.

omg this is a sweet idea. i hate going through everything i have..and i ALWAYS lose my hat. thats what bothers me the most lol! cause then not only do i have to go through hair but then i have to go through all my hats too.

Gpdot did the work, now is up to us to let VMK know about it. I already used contact us and PM Yavn on this. Let your voices be heard or letters be read. Anyway, I LOVE the ideas! And the sparkly ear thing? So adorable!
You know, this new edit character idea should really be considered. I know I have a terrible time switching outfits. Why? Because when I joined, I felt this crazy urge to earn every single article that was being sold in the clothes thing. So what did I do? Play a few games of ghosts or fireworks, spend all my credits buying each article of clothing, play games when I ran out of credits again, shop, and repeat until I owned every single article that was being sold. So now, I have the worst time flipping through all of it.

And you'd be a life-saver to those that play cute or boot. Hehe, instead of flipping through all of those little pixels, CLICK and voila.
I personally like ideas two and three the best.

that's so cool! It's creative, sleek, classic,...Im very impressed. I hate scrolling like a million tops just to find my blue bling shirt and flip through maybe a BILLION pants to get to explorer pants. Now you can just click and me done. they should charge us for heads and hair styles like 25 credits each that way you dont have trouble looking through all the heads because the only ones you have are the ones you like to use.

Absolutely. Cute or boot takes me forever because I have almost all of the buyable shirts, then of course, all the costumes. ANYTHING to make it faster would be great. Great ideas gpdot!

Another part of this idea is to have a section for preset outfits. There is a set group for shoes, tops, pants and hats with title. Click it and out fit yourself. I suppose you would have to add hair to that and maybe a face and colors for hair and body too.

Maybe you could make an outfit, click the save button, and everytime you need it:
1.)Access the interface
2.)Click on saved outfits
3.)Choose
4.)Click Confirm
5.)LISTO!

Of course if you sold or traded something that was in an outfit, that could cause some problems.

Does it delete the outfit, notify you before or durring a trade, or just replace that object with the next object in inventory or come up with a missing item icon?

Oh I liek the new one!!! I consider... OH OH AN IDEA!!! Can you please make a staircase teleporter? I want to see what they should look like! Monster Stair Case ROFL

The saved outfits idea is a good one, but the tabs would be enough for me. I just can't stand all the scrolling I have to do now, especially when the items aren't even in any discernable order.

Best idea yet gpdot.... I have a few favorite outfits and it drives me crazy to click through stuff. Having something where we can save it would be fantastic!

OK, it looks cool. Although I have to say i was disturbed by the multiple face types listed next to each other. I may be odd.

We need a way VMK would see us support your ideas, though..Because no offence but I don't like VMK's new ideas. The swirly things under people's heads right when you log on and enter a room - LAG. The new loading bar in clothing or shops - LAG. And the new Shop organization, sure it's organized but its too organized.
