View Full Version : Was Skippy an early form of Stitch?
Manchester United 04-10-2007, 04:12 PM Before the ride Stitch's Great Escape!, there was ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. The character for ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was a alien called skippy (as seen below:)

Do you think this alien has any link what so ever to Stitch the alien?
Rossi
AceGoalkeeper 04-10-2007, 04:16 PM He might have had to do a bit with Stitch, but i doubt it. Great thinking tho.

Manchester United 04-10-2007, 04:18 PM He is still seen today in the stitch's great escape :) He was a big character!
Sirenitta 04-10-2007, 04:21 PM I'm not sure, but i know Stitch looks like a wombat

LOL, i see a bit of resemblance, too.

Manchester United 04-10-2007, 05:42 PM On my picture looks at the hands and feet they looks just like stitches!
Neoteny 04-10-2007, 06:16 PM I don't see any connection. Stitch is just Stitch, you know?
And Skippy's always creeped me out.
Penguinz 04-10-2007, 07:14 PM I don't see any connection. Stitch is just Stitch, you know?

Well, that wasn't nice! Skippy is a great person!
=D
Manchester United 04-10-2007, 07:46 PM Well, that wasn't nice! Skippy is a great person!
=D
Yes we will tell him that! ;)
sunnyskye 04-10-2007, 07:47 PM Person...? He looks like some sort of animal thing.
futuremartymcfly 04-10-2007, 07:55 PM I don't remember the Alien encounter... but was skippy the thing that got loose and started scaring people? If so, then its a nice, if demeaning, homage to put him in the introduction with the security gaurd.
Penguinz 04-10-2007, 08:56 PM Person...? He looks like some sort of animal thing.
He's a member on VMKF's, Skip.
FinnDisney 04-10-2007, 09:02 PM No. No relation really whatsoever. I'm pretty sure.
AceGoalkeeper 04-10-2007, 09:05 PM On my picture looks at the hands and feet they looks just like stitches!
They do look like stitch's, but i still doubt they are related.
- Ace
DisneyHottie 04-10-2007, 09:26 PM Well skippy is in one of the great adventures of stitch uin the disney channel show he was one of the alien cousins. well he kind of looked like it
Manchester United 04-10-2007, 10:14 PM I did not mean blood related i ment related as in is skippy and early form of stitch?
AceGoalkeeper 04-10-2007, 10:27 PM I did not mean blood related i ment related as in is skippy and early form of stitch?
I know you didn't mean that, but most of us don't really see a resemblance and i don't think Disney used Skippy to create Stitch.

Tink's Fireworks 04-10-2007, 10:34 PM Skippy... he looks like he's hiding something lol I never got to ride the encounter because the last time i was there with it i was too scared to go on it. I mean even the X-S tech ppls look FREAKY!! Also skippy isn't the alien that breaks loose is he? I saw some pictures of the one that breaks loose and it looked NOTHING like skippy. Also... i don't really see any resembelence between stitch and skippy.

Skippy was the test subject in the teleportation demonstration in the pre-show of Alien Encounter. He started out all cute and furry, but his fur was smoking and he was a bit burned after his teleportation. I always felt bad for Skippy. :(
Well, that wasn't nice! Skippy is a great person!
=D
Yes indeed! So insulting, Neoteny. ;)
I don't see too much resemblance... but it's noteworthy that Skippy is still on Stitch's Great Escape after the conversion from AE.
(...Speaking of which, tomorrow I will be visiting the animatronic likeness of myself... ;))

Penguinz 04-12-2007, 01:36 AM Sounds very fun skip.
Anyway, the only resemblance that I see is the antennas (things).
That's about it.

That's... erm... "less cute."
Garfieldo 04-12-2007, 04:16 AM Nah, probably not. He may be related to Stitch, but I don't think he's some kind of early form of him. If he were, why would the old version still be around?
CapnOlaf 04-12-2007, 04:40 AM I know how he's related.
They're both in the same ride! :D
wombat 04-13-2007, 02:01 AM I'm not sure, but i know Stitch looks like a wombat

Oh wow.. scaryness, I don't like him.. I like the other Stitch. That guy just looks demented.
Neoteny 04-16-2007, 09:30 PM Carefull now!!! LOL
Wombat
Aww, Wombat, that's an adorable picture!
NothingHere 04-16-2007, 10:13 PM I have a stuffed animal of skippy its cute that way!!
Got it when they still had they old ride.
I felt sorry when they got rid of him in the old ride.
monkeyfunkychunky 04-16-2007, 10:15 PM He doesn't quite look like Stitch to me, but he does look sort of look like Stitch's cousin, Experiment 625!

A little, sure.
Kitri 04-16-2007, 11:58 PM Oh! I loved alien EnconTerror! I thought it was the best! But it creeped littl kids out.... Anyways, I don't think so, stitch isn't as bad as Skippy was.
Proracer1 04-17-2007, 12:01 AM Well I know he was in the intro for Alien Encounter ,and he is in Stitch so thats basically the only thing that they relate to.
Manchester United 04-17-2007, 12:29 AM He doesn't quite look like Stitch to me, but he does look sort of look like Stitch's cousin, Experiment 625!
http://www.whatsitsgalore.com/disney/stitchart/625.jpg
Great find that sure sorts out the question alright!
monkeyfunkychunky 04-17-2007, 12:56 AM Thanks! The minute I saw skippy I knew one of Stitch's cousins look liked him.
puchisana 04-17-2007, 01:08 AM I dont catch it
crazycrazyfrog 04-17-2007, 11:33 AM Yes. Skippy is in Stitch's Great Escape, in the beginning, and for those people who are confused, Skippy is not the one who gets loose and runs around the people. That is the big cheese, Stitch.
StitchMad 04-17-2007, 12:14 PM Of course they're related, they were both drawn by the same person.
Neoteny 04-17-2007, 01:21 PM Of course they're related, they were both drawn by the same person.
So would that make them siblings? Or what? Mickey and Minnie were both drawn by the same person, but I don't think they're brother and sister, 'cause they keep going out on dates with each other.
aurorarosesb 04-17-2007, 06:28 PM lol I just got out my old skippy stuffed animal and you are right there is a resemblance to stitch's cousin! I do have to say that I miss this attraction, loved it a whole lot more than the new stitch one
monkeyfunkychunky 04-17-2007, 09:45 PM I do enjoy Stitch's Great Escape, and as said, Skippy is the one in the beginning of it. ( It probably wasn't so hard to build that ride because both are " space themes " which makes them not have as much construction.
StitchMad 04-17-2007, 10:10 PM So would that make them siblings? Or what? Mickey and Minnie were both drawn by the same person, but I don't think they're brother and sister, 'cause they keep going out on dates with each other.
Haha - Good one. :)

It is kinda weird that they both have the same last name....
Penguinz 04-18-2007, 02:17 AM Then how can Donald Duck and Daisy Duck also be 'dating'?
~Penguinz
---
They could be married...
Cyantist 04-18-2007, 02:19 AM I don't see any connection. Stitch is just Stitch, you know?
And Skippy's always creeped me out.
I agree with Neoteny, I think stitch is just stitch and there is nothing else to it
DerekJ 04-19-2007, 06:50 PM Of course they're related, they were both drawn by the same person.
So would that make them siblings?
No, it makes them..."cuz-ins!" :StitchBounce-1:
(Yeah, a Series reference, but so was 625, live with it.)
Right before the film came out (and Disney "plagiarism" conspiracy theories were running wild with Disney-history fans fed up people saying Lion king was "sorta like Hamlet"), I'd seen someone post a picture of a cute lil' "furry critter" corporate-logo mascot that looked an AWFUL DARN lot like Stitch, right down to the same notched ear, and this was right around the time the first poster came out.
I've spent an hour trying to search '01 Google refs trying to find it, and all traces seems to have vanished--
Anyone who knows what I'm talking about, back me up here; it's driving me crazy.
KAITYkaityKAITY 04-19-2007, 06:55 PM yeah i mean they could of piggybacked off of Skippy, but sho knows
(ps stitch does kind of look like a wombat LOL)
dogsdogs 04-21-2007, 02:56 AM Now that i think of it, an early form of Jumba seems kinda like Skippy.
Kinda.
http://www.animationarchive.net/Feature%20Films/Lilo%20and%20Stitch/Concept%20Art/KMP-DVD2594.jpg
But maybe the movie has nothing to do with Skippy.
Neoteny 04-21-2007, 03:18 PM But maybe the movie has nothing to do with Skippy.
I think that seems like the most likely theory.
Manchester United 04-22-2007, 11:43 AM I think that seems like the most likely theory.
Yes but then why was the stitch ride the one that replaced skippys ride. And they both look the same and are drawn by the same person!
Skippy... he looks like he's hiding something lol I never got to ride the encounter because the last time i was there with it i was too scared to go on it. I mean even the X-S tech ppls look FREAKY!! I was 5 when i went on it, when ur strapped down in ur seats thats when i got scared!

Imagin that on our heads instead of stitch hats!
VMKJen 04-22-2007, 12:13 PM Yes but then why was the stitch ride the one that replaced skippys ride. And they both look the same and are drawn by the same person!

Oh my gosh, that would be bad. I like the stitch that we have today!
Neoteny 04-22-2007, 02:03 PM Imagin that on our heads instead of stitch hats!
Why imagine it when we could just get GPDOT to mock it up for us?
dogsdogs 04-24-2007, 05:46 AM And they both look the same and are drawn by the same person!
They are?
by Chris Sanders?
The picture and information I got should be in the book Lilo & Stitch: Collected Stories From the Film's Creators (http://www.amazon.com/Lilo-Stitch-Collected-Stories-Creators/dp/0786853824)
