View Full Version : Quests are exploitable?

The system is weak. Exploitation is entirely possible:
1) Lack of failsafe checking. Say I have n seperate 1 day (or multi day) passes. I can complete n sets of quests (Adventureland, Fantasyland, Fronteirland) and get n sets of codes for the items from the quests. There probably should be some other way to check on whether I have completed the quests before or not.
2) Lack of general checking. Standing in front of a terminal at Disney I can make as many different "Born in Disney" characters as possible (until a cast member catches on). Later I could command them to do my bidding, or sell them to other people, or forget them, etc.
3) Human factor failure. Getting free cards from cast members is very easy. Many times they will just hand you many cards simply for asking about VMK. Hint: learn how to phrase a innocent sounding question.
4) Human factor failure due to the system. Even people who know the rules very well are very flexible in what they will do to help. This is due to the 'make sure the guest has a magical day' nature of the Disney-MK system.

All of these have ethical implications. However, given some of the mania that associated with 'getting it all' (pins, special clothes, powers, etc.), I can easily see people working any angle they can to get ahead.

I think that's all stuff to be expected and Disney is ready to handle it all. I mean, VMK has been out for a whole 34 days and the quests have been out for a shorter time than that. There will be people exploiting the system, but people are ALWAYS exploiting every system.

I think if you have seperate 1 day passes, then there is no reason you can't get a set of cards and wristband for each, you did afterall pay the 50+ dollars for each ticket.

lol, people ebay anything. The market for online gaming has become extremely large. If you think about it though, people are already buying their items in this game. Instead of an ebay transaction Disney sells you the items directly. We just all have to remember, this isn't a game, it's marketing. The people with the stuff will tend to be people who live near a disney resort and have money to burn.

All that aside Disney should really do something about multi accounts. It's rediculous. I don't even need to go to a Disney resort. I could farm infinity fireworks pin at about 15 minutes per pin (if i get in games where there is actually someone able to score over 240k). Infinity spooky pins at about an hour - hour and half per. Not to mention all the credits gained in the process. I will admit to personally have one alternate account but only for the reason of being able to play without being known and annoyed. (perhaps an anonymous feature that allows a person to appear offline to friends lists and such would be nice).

This does bring up a point I found surprising from day one: they don't check e-mail addresses. Many other sityes of this sort send a confirmation e-mail you need to respond to, but Disney does not. You can create as many characters as you want using bogus e-mail addresses, subsequently there are all sorts of pieces of information you can also fabricate.

One member here admitted he faked his age when registering for VMK. I have the feeling another member did too (as I believe her parents have no idea she's on VMK). We've also seen large scale password sharing -- but I can't pound too heavily on that as I've seen legitimate reasons for it

For a system that's made to stop certain pieces of information from being passed from one guest to another, they are surprisingly lax on how they let ppl in in the first place.

But as the wise engineer says, "It's impossible to make things foolproof because fools are so ingenious."

Or as I say often in real life, "You cannot make the perfect IQ test."
