My friend (vanillabug) went to DLR , she was helping a friend create a character and to her surprise......the new character entered VMK with 1 room the clothes on his back no credits and no black mouse ears. She asked a cast memeber and was told they quit giving those out.She was also told at the VMK kiosk that the hidden mickey quest and the jungle cruise high score pdf's are expired.The new Space Magic has not arrived at DLR as of today and they were out of HSM piano cards as well ( but on the bright side (LOL) Pooh Corner did get more Red penny press cards).Well as sad as all this news is I hope it is helpful. Can anyone confirm that the black ears are still given for new characters created at WDW?

According to Cast Members at DLR, the black ears were taken away sometime last month.

Well, that stinks. I haven't been to WDW since '04 and was to young to have gotten addicted to my computer yet. I had not heard of VMK, so no in-park quests for me.

I know I cant get the wanted poster because you can only get it at Disney World... and the Gold ears and the Happest Celebration pin are both retired... So what do you people know...? ^_^

I actually FINALLY took the time to finish the Hidden Mickey II quest after starting it over a year ago. I took my pdf to Disneyland on the 8th of April and while I knew that there wouldn't be anymore Gold Designer Sets I hoped to get a decent subsitution. The CM I spoke to allowed me to substitute the prize for either credits or Invisibility Magic. I took invisibility ;) Just wanted to let you all know that some CMs are still accepting the pdfs and so hopefully others here will be able to redeem theirs as well.

I have the same trouble with my wife. She's not a VMK player and has already done all there is to do in Innoventions, so it's hard for me to get in there as often as I'd like.

I don't think it's quite right that if they are out of something, such as the piano or penny press, you just end up with nothing (besides the room code for the HSM quest or the candy you just bought). Disney (more so, VMK staff/cast members stationed at the VMK Kiosk/VMK Central) should have some sort of back up prize at the ready when things like this happen. Just my opinion...

And Invisibility magic is back (not super rare, considering it used to be earned from Pirates of the Caribbean as well as the Haunted Mansion in-park quest)?!? But, how do we go about earning that little beauty for the in-park redemption!?!

idk about neoteny but i have always seen black ears as prized possessions and would never give my black ears away like nothing, and i dont plan on trading them still.

Hmm... I had a feeling I should've made a new character when I was in MK last week. Shoot, I could've seen if they were still being given out.

Anyways, if you're looking for Penny Presses in the Magic Kingdom, I suggest the Pin Shop in Frontierland. I bought one of the VMK Pirate Pin Box Sets and recieved five penny press cards there (and I didn't even ask [though I didn't know you could get them there]). It was a nice surprise. :)

I try to make a few accounts every time I visit Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom. Usually, though, my wife drags me away before I can get too out of hand.

Actually I still think they are availible.. Not positive though

i just went to DLR last week and when you create an account you still get black mickey ears. so im not sure i got black ears and my friend created an account and she got them to.
