So do we know when the next big event is?
I "heard" the herbie helmits are coming out with the Herbie Movie DVD on 10/24.
I also "heard" the blue princess dresses might come out with the Cinderilla DVD on 10/4.
THese are things I have read here in posts. I have no inside knowledge - hence ( -ooh Hence big word- ) the reason I am posting to ask those of you who do have inside knowledge.
Anyone? ANyone?

I no longer have any idea what the next costume will be, but My best bet is it will be Pirate.

And by the way, Hence is not a "Big" word.

It has been confirmed that the Virtual prizes will be giving when you buy the Herbie: Fully Loaded movie. The was confirmed in a different thread and even has a picture of a tester saying it. it said that virtual prizes and more themed of the Herbie movie will be given when buying the movie. In a different thread than that someone thought that there might not just be a helmet but a whole Herbie suit! and a Herbie guest room i am not sure of these last too items but dont bother asking staff most dont know becuz they only plan events and things you do in VMK. Most likely you should ask yavn, sillysyl, or Alyuel about this or any other testers that roam around VMK. :)

sorry and another thing i heard that the blue princess dress (Cinderella) will be out in VMK to buy when the movie comes out in stores.

I think the Herbie Hat coming out with Herbie Movie DVD is true. I think a cast member or a tester told someone and they posted it :)

The Princess Dress I think might not be. From what I can tell someone just started that. ;)

Anyway there is my point of view.

I guess everyone is used to typing things on VMK, when it lets you know if you typed something wrong.

Anyways, wasn't the last event only... like a week ago?? With the whole Hong Kong Disneyland opening and everything....

But they will probably have a small event in two weeks or so, then probably hold some big, Big event for Halloween. Yay!

I's sure that is the reason. I sometimes use "VMK" talk when I write things for school. :)

It makes no sense from a business stand point nor a money making stand point to allow these "Dresses" to be just sold in virtual stores when the Walt Disney Company can be making money in the real world. If little girls who play this game want that dress, they MUST buy that DVD to receive one, it's business Genius and will Inevitably boost DVD sales.. But to make them accessible to everybody without anyone contributing real money from their pocket books, is money Disney could have gotten down the drain and spent somewhere else.. the Walt Disney Company is too smart to miss out on this rare business oppurtunity. :mickey2:

I have an idea for the Halloween event. I think they should re-release all the costumes up to date. After all everyone should dress up. lol. I know they don't take ideas off here but I thought it might be something fun for a spooky holiday. Plus it would give everyone an opportunity to obtain a costume they wanted and couldn't get for some reason. Just an idea. :pirate:

I have to agree with Middiebear that VMK needs to be looked at from a economic standpoint. Disney would not create VMK for free and make no profit. Do you think it is cheap to run and operate VMK? It is not. Do a sample budget and VMK costs Disney at least $333K a month! Paying employees and developers, servers etc. If Disney Parks is not making at least $400,000 from VMK then VMK is only a dumb thing for Disney to do. By selling VMK items with merchandise Disney is making this money. Dancing Inferno Magic and Green Flips mean nothing to Disney sorry. But you wasting tons of cash in Disney parks is what Disney is looking at. By you begging mom and dad to bring you to WDW because of VMK Disney is happy. This is how VMK is becoming a Disney profit.

So I think the next event will be for the release of Herbie. This film did not very well at the box office and Disney would love to sell a few hundred even thousand more copies because of VMK. I think there will 2 Herbie Costumes, Herbie Furniture and a Herbie Pin Collection. Also expect a Lindsay Lohan-VMK-Herbie Disney 411 Clip on Disney Channel. In the economic standpoint VMK will go huge during Herbie event or with the Tomorrowland opening. This will be by making you buy a DVD for a few VMK items etc.

I think we need to start a new thread that teaches how to spell things correctly. LOL. First VKM now inspect!

VKM should be VMK
Inspect should be Expect
LOL yes indeed.

First off I would like to say I was told by more than one tour guide at Disneyland on more than one occasion that the blue dress will be released when the Cinderella DVD comes out. There was no mention of it being with the purchase of the DVD.

Also I believe it makes complete sense to allow the blue dress to be available during a possible event as opposed to being able to get only from purchasing a DVD.

Cinderella is a Disney classic, which is shown on TV quite often and has been for many years. Most people from various generations already have the original Cinderella on VHS or have taped it straight from the TV. That means they already have it in their possession to play when they please.

There are a few perks to having it on DVD in addition to the special features I will agree. The people who will most likely be interested in purchasing this, if they even know it is released on DVD, are not the general age group that VMK is aimed towards. And lets face it, young girls love Cinderella but it is not the same as it used to be, there is not as much demand for her anymore.

cont...part 2 posted below.

In short Cinderella has been seen by all so by forcing people to buy the DVD to get the code would not bring in as much money as it would take to advertise it. Plus there is the fact that a princess dress has already been available, without real world purchase, in gold and pink/purple. Most people can trade easily for a pink/purple dress and may be a little bummed out that their parents wont pay for a DVD that will go to waste just so they can get something they already have in blue. To most people the dress is more important than the color.

The reason why it will help to do this "purchase the DVD and get codes" when the Herbie movie is released is because it is a current movie that has never been released on DVD, VHS, or television. Most people did not even see it at the movies so that will also motivate people to purchase it as opposed to renting. Another key factor in the success of the sale would have to be the fact that the helmet and rumored jump suit and couch have not been previously released in different colors. There will be no way to get them other than trade or purchasing the DVD, which will motivate still more people to purchase it.

Plus there is the potential for Disney to make even more money off the sale of the Herbie movie. People will find the code, wonder what its for, sign up, and then follow up with a potential trip to Disneyland or WDW.

Advertising is not cheap, which makes going with the Herbie movie instead of Cinderella or both a better investment for Disney. The chances of them getting people to buy Herbie are just greater from a promotion standpoint than they would be for Cinderella. That’s all there is to it.

sorry i was forced to split this into 2 parts. it kept crashing when i tried to post it in one.

The only issue I see with DVDs paired with VMK prizes is families that play this game. If you have three kids - you're still only going to buy only one DVD - not three or four or five. If you have brothers and sisters, still only one DVD, because why would you ever need more than one copy? So if you're in a family that has more than 1 VMK participant, I see a little dilemma.

Of course, some people might drop the cash and others might work a deal out with friends - who knows.

Of course it makes sense. Think of it as advertising. If they hold an event in VMK to mark the release of Cinderella on DVD, it's just another way of getting the word out, and to a very captive audience I might add.

i think it makes sense that rare items/event items are available in different ways. if to get any rare items you had to spend money for every single code card they'd have a lot of unhappy players who may quit the game. if they make some easy, some hard, some earnable just by playing the game they keep their customers happy. more people are going to the parks because of the quests. people play games because of rare items, and that keeps them immersed in the advertising. and i will be one of those people who otherwise would never dream of buying the Herbie movie, just to get a silly rare item code for some pixels.
