As a big fan of the classic television series, and having seen the trailer for the new movie, I can only say that this film looks absolutely terrible.

I hope I'm wrong.

Neoteny, I have to (unfortunately) agree. I grew up watching that series (on Cartoon Network reruns, i'm not that old ;)) and Disney just, just ruined it, I was hoping for the best, but got the worst :(

Okay--I'd been warned ahead of time:
I could accept the fact that they were using real dogs.
I could accept that they threw in the "experiment" idea because they'd never heard of the story.
I could accept that Sweet Polly Purebred is now just another dog instead of a TV news reporter.

Now, after seeing the preview, how about: He doesn't even talk in rhyme anymore. Just makes lame wisecracks.

(So, just why ARE they making this movie, anyway?..."For the fans"??) :thf471fd564zf: :thmotocanagliatesta

I have allready seen it!
We went to a screening, back in January.

It is not as lame as it sounds.

Patrick Warburton ( emporers new groove) plays Cad.
Taylor Momsen ( Cindy Lou Who, from the Grinch) is it, so is Jim Belushi, he is the Dad.

When we saw it, a lot of the animation wasnt dont yet, the CGI was still in the skelton stage.
It is a live action movie.

I have never seen Underdog ( the series) and I had no problem following the Movie.

There are cute little nods to other disney movies too!

The Girl Dog was really rude, I didnt like her at all.

I can allready see the Happy Meal tie ins!

There will probably be some of his bee costume, red vest, etc.

I dont want to give too much away, but they totally left it open for a sequel.

Here is a link that I posted on imdb about the movie, I thought I posted it here, back when I saw it.

Ah, there's the key to your whole post.

I think those of us who are fans of the television series are going to hate this movie. Others, who are unfamiliar with the original, may enjoy it, though.

Okay--I will admit, for the undeniable sake of charity: THAT they got right.

I have never seen Underdog ( the series) and I had no problem following the Movie.

...Well, now we know the movie's intended audience. :pork:

(In the original pilot cartoon, Underdog was originally supposed to be an enthusiastic Tick-like bumbler who the public dreaded, casually destroyed everything he came into contact with, and waved off collateral-damage complaints with "I am a hero who never fails, I can't be bothered with small details..."
Most of that was mainstreamed out when Jay Ward became TotalTV and lost its entire sense of humor, but without its Bullwinkle roots, it's nothing.)

In fact, there will be a sequel in 2010 -_- I'm dissappointed in you Disney :( This was the one project I was hoping you'd do good on, but nooo, you had to make it a horrid movie, that probably only has the name in common with the show.

Without the rhyming, it's just not Underdog.

Plus, everything else about the movie just seems wrong.

They should have made it a cartoon, and kept it faithful to the original series.

Actually, it's a product of mainstream studios' stubborn insistence that "Cats & Dogs" wasn't REALLY a flop, hence their practice of giving us one CGI-enhanced wisecracking-live-pets movie every year by the clock until it becomes a hit...

(That, and the statute of limitations are running out on a bunch of Jay Ward-icon live-action movie projects from the 80's, and nobody wants to touch them after "Adv. of Rocky & Bullwinkle"--The Mr. Peabody movie is supposedly still alive at another studio, but trust Disney to clean up at the clearance sale...
Let's just hope this Disney bargain-salvage project isn't an ADD-gagged mess like "My Favorite Martian", "Mr. Magoo", or all-time Ritalin nightmare "Inspector Gadget" were.)

I've never seen the series, but I just can't stand "super" dogs, or dogs who can talk.

Actually, a Peabody movie sounds like it could work. But it would have to be something like Scooby-Doo, or The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, with an animated Peabody, not a real dog, like this Underdog movie.

My mother loved Underdog as a kid, and has an Underdog lunchbox in her office. I can't wait to see the movie. My uncle works at the post office and W. Watts Biggers' wife came in and they met! I thought that was the coolest thing!

Well, Scooby-Doo didn't get good reviews, Neither did Rocky and BullWinkle.

I finally saw some underdog on You Tube.
Uh... The only similarities is that the dog flies, and he wears a sweater.

I still liked the movie though.

Yeah, this is gonna ruin Underdog for fans of the show. :(

Oh well, at least the movie is a good excuse for them to release the TV series on DVD (Coming July 24!).

No, you're confusing a cute cartoon dog with a horde of rampaging barbarians.

Or else you're talking about a different Capital One commercial.

What's in your wallet?
