PolarFish 03-25-2007, 12:08 AM You don't "spend anything to play VMK". VMK is free, the rest is (appart from merchandise codes) it is just a bonus and a free gift for you for visiting the parks.
lemonysnicket3 03-25-2007, 12:10 AM i mean the VMK addicts...and it does cost certain fees to play the game. list updated. bold means Nessesary
Samanthagirl10 03-25-2007, 12:21 AM All I could think of that you would ABSOULUTELY need to play VMK is a computer as you said earlier. It does not cost anything to play VMK otherwise. W
Penguinz 03-25-2007, 12:24 AM Stitch Hat, 2000 Dollars for a vacation.
(Or was for that matter)
camara 03-25-2007, 12:25 AM Let's see
1. went on a trip to WDW with boredfudge: 10 days, Pop Century Hotel, Free Dining, All parks included
2. we both bought mickey ears
3. we both bought pins ( i bought more than him, but we got same amount of 50th celebration pins)
4. i ordered 5 boxes (10 pins) of the vmk pirate pins/items collection
besides that, we got everything else for free and/or by doing quests
But when it comes to money, that's aprroximately $3,150.00

Ok, but I really don't think that there is anyone that is playing vmk that went out and specifically bought a computer and subscribed to an internet provider SOLELY to play vmk.
Yes, I have to have a computer and the internet to play vmk but I already had those. VMK is free for me because I already had those items so I do not attribute their cost to vmk.
Disneyland 03-25-2007, 12:35 AM The thread should be called "How much people spend on VMK", it would make more sense because VMK is absolutely free. The other items are optional like the Stitch Hat, and other merchandise it's all up to the player if they want to spend money on stuff for VMK.
WafflePrincess 03-25-2007, 12:37 AM I bought 4 boxs of VMK pins. First I bought 3 for $40 (2 of those 3 were for my 2 friends, one for myself) and then I bought another box for $14.
So I spent around $54 dollars for 4 vmk cards and 4 pins. heh
But I really wanted the pins, cards where just extras. :D
AceGoalkeeper 03-25-2007, 12:44 AM I don't spend a cent for VMK, your computer and internet fees have nothing to do with VMK.

Penguinz 03-25-2007, 01:03 AM I spent $14 on the cards. Icky.
That's the last dime I'm spending on VMK! (Besides going to the parks, but those are fun without VMK)

vmkrocks07lol 03-26-2007, 04:47 PM Do you know how much it cost to stay at a disney hotel to get a stitch hat? over a thousand dollars, sure i want a stitch hat but no thanks to spending over a 1000 dollars for a virtual item.

Unless you were going to go and stay at DLR anyway, which I think is how a lot of people get stitch stuff.
I would go even if I didn't get stitch items.
Neoteny 03-26-2007, 05:30 PM I spend all that money anyway, not just for VMK. VMK is not the reason I have a Disneyland Annual Pass. VMK is not the reason I own a computer.
Jeena 03-26-2007, 05:58 PM £0
Is all VMK costs for me, even then, i would never just buy a computer for VMK -.-
If VMK was a paying game i would have quit long long long ago, i would have to be of a much higher standard to require pay, and at the moment i cannot even get on VMK -.- :(

Exactly what I was saying about my computer.
Also in terms of the stitch items, I am quite sure that very few (if any) people have planned a vacation or trip to the park just so they can get the items. If you are already planning a trip or have had one planned for a while then the quest items and stitch items are just bonuses.
I would imagine that very few people would spend so much money on a vacation just for a virtual item in a virtual game. I doubt that many people go do the quests in the park and then leave without going on rides and enjoying the actual parks.

Not entirely accurate. To get the Stitch items, you have to book your trip through the Walt Disney Travel Company, which is not exactly the best deal out there. You can get much better prices booking your trip yourself online, but then you don't get the Stitch items. So there is a certain additional cost involved if you want the Stitch items.

Ok, admittedly I don't know much about how to go about getting the stitch items other than booking a trip to the park a specific way. Neoteny is probably right on that count. However, I still stand behind my opinion that most people who visit the parks are not doing so specifically for vmk.

I don't think you have to stay at a Disney hotel (Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier) to get the Stitch package. I believe that you can stay at either a Disney resort or a Good Neighbor hotel as long as you book your package through the Walt Disney Travel Company.
And in this instance, I think you wouldn't be spending $$$ on the Stitch cards, per se. You'd be spending $$$ on a hotel room and admission to the DLR theme parks ... and the Stitch cards would come with it, kind of like a gift with purchase. If you think about it, it's the same thing with the other in-park gift with purchase promotions:
-Fantasyland Magic Mirror: gift with any purchase from DLR Main Street Magic Shop
-Happiest Celebration on Earth Pin: gift with the purchase of any real pin at DLR or WDW
-Golden Micke Ears: gift with the purchase of any real hat at DLR and WDW
-Retro Mickey T-Shirt: gift with the purchase of any real t-shirt at DLR or WDW
-Frontierland Wanted Poster: gift with the purchase of a photo at WDW Splash Mountain or Buzz Lightyear Spin
-Disneyland Retro Penny Press: gift with buying candy at DLR or WDW
The only difference between the Stitch package and the six other VMK items listed above is that purchase required for the Stitch package is significantly more expensive and the cards are mailed to you instead of picking them up in the park. In all of these instances, the actual $$$ is going to the cost of the tangible object and the card with the code is a free gift with the purchase. Granted, some of these purchases may have been made with the sole intention of getting the virtual prize, but it doesn't change the fact that the actual purchase (what the $$$ bought) was the tangible item.

The other difference is that you can book a room in a hotel and admission to Disneyland for far less money yourself than if you book them using the Walt Disney Travel Company. By spending the extra money to book via Disney's own travel agents, you get the Stitch cards. So there is an additional cost for the Stitch cards.
Burgs 03-28-2007, 02:55 AM Well When I Was Addicted I Paid 40 Dollars For Some Haunted Codes And Ten Dollars For Explorer And For Dollars For Mickey Set.. Now I Barely Play Vmk And Am Starting To Play Tether Ball In My Back Yard !!

Well, I don't know about everyone else, but..
Mickey Ears- I never bought them, I traded for mine. Price: Free
Park Tickets- My family has annual passes, but we don't buy them just to play VMK. I've had a pass for WDW as long as I can remember, so I don't count this at all.
Picture: This doesn't matter to me. I traded for my Wanted Poster, and if its really the picture I want- I take plenty of pictures already, I love my digital camera. Price (not including camera) : Free
Computer: My laptop cost a bit more than that, but whatever. Since I did not buy my laptop for VMK, but for school, I don't count this.
Internet: Come on now, internet shouldn't be counted at all. I use it for school and friends, my sister for school, my mother for her work and my father for the online classes he teaches and his work. This shouldn't count.
So really, I pay nothing, which makes total sense, seeing that VMK is free.
