I've seen a lot of people getting the priviledge of joining the wiki because they've posted a helpful guide, or manual. Is there any other way to help edit it?

I should point out that nobody has automatically been joined to the wiki this way. You must request permission to edit the wiki yourself, and Nick usually grants it to people who have a demonstrated history of posting here on the forums - although you're not required to be posting guides or anything like that.
