Truth, Beauty!

Make-up is a powerful tool. Many girls use it to try to become something out of a Magazine... however..People/Women are all more alike than we know..

Watch this video thanks to Dove (http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com/home_films_evolution_v2.swf). ;)

This should not be much of a surprise to many, but it is a dose of reality.

I would like to see the self-esteem of many of our members pick up. I have heard it well said... "I am beautiful, no matter what you say"

Also remember, "It takes looks to attract someone, BUT it takes personality to keep them". Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder.

That is so right. Be yourself and everyone will think you're beautiful.
Everyone needs to be beautiful on the inside. Great post, JeannieV.

I admit, that is very true.
But today, as a teenager, looks ARE everything, if you dont make an effort to look good with make up and everything, others won't make the effort to see the real you, to know your real personality, as i have found out.
I myself have very low self esteem >_<, and it's not that i don't like the way i look naturally, but i use make up to make myself feel more confident, i am also getting my hair dyed in a week or two, you may think 'Very superficial' but to everyone around me, my hair colour is my worst feature, to most of my boy classmates its like a keep-away barrier, i get teased mercilessly, so most of the time, for those who use make up or dye their hair, its a way of hiding the truth, so they can blend in to the background. And although this is showing how fake the world around us is, it also shows that with a little tweaking (with make up) we can all look the way we want.
I think this is why i like VMK, we are all equal.

Are ALL Normal! Girls need to think, do you dress for other girls, for guys or for yourself? One of the first things taught in Modeling...LOOK CONFIDENT!

You can look up nearly ANY celebrity without makeup. There is NOTHING wrong with looking good...but true friends WILL like you first thing in the morning with a fresh face or made up. As for hair, YOU NEVER need to change your color. You can get high lights or get a GOOD shine product. You would be amazed at what a good treatmant can do for your hair.

Know that if you already do not have confidence, a DRASTIC change could backfire. People may either like it or make fun of you more for TRYING to change. This is where you need inner strength. Keep your head when all "around" you are losing theirs and blaming it on you.

Do things for you!

Really nice video. The commercials they have for the Dove Campaign Real Beauty are nice, also.

Wow cool video
i totally agree with being who you are, wearing make-up just to impress someone isn't being true to yourself, you shouldn't have to change for anyone, be yourself and people will love you. That is what i say :bunny_basket:

On the radio yesterday, I heard Dr. Laura talk to a young caller who was struggling with self-esteem regarding her appearance.

She told her to go to the mall with her mom, sit down, and watch for couples walking by who are holding hands. She said the majority of women in this group will not be anything out of the ordinary to look at, because they are with someone who values them for who they are inside.

Now that's what I call perspective!
And the girl's response? "Yeah, but all the guys with them were fat and ugly!"

that video is so true! everyone thnks that you have to have perfect skin, make-up, be stick thin, and have perfect hair to be beautiful, when in fact this is all wrong!

Exactly! There are many couples out there and they do not ALL fit the Magizine Reality. They have a much closer connection.

But she needed to hear that she had more options than staying with someone who didn't care about her, just because she thought nobody else would want her.

And now we'd better steer this back to the subject of makeup versus reality!

Yet, girls thinking there are no other choices is a HUGE part of it. Why else would be go through ALL the War Paint (My step dads words for make-up) for the battle of love? One thing you learn after you have been with the same partner for a while. THERE are MANY choices out there!

It's ok to look good for you! After all, it is your reflection you have to see the rest of your life. You want to be proud of it! But if you really want to do good for your face then do what it takes to look good without make up.

Eat right, mouisturize, wash and exercise...then you can have a healthy glow...with out the artificial coloring. ;)

This video's great. I know most of my friends are always wearing mascara, eye liner, and eyeshadow at my school. Our teacher told us it was too much, and that make-up was made to emphasize our features, and not to them a completely different look. They didn't really take it into consideration...so then we all had a more detailed girls only talk with our school's secretary. She told us most guys may care about looks, but the best ones won't.

Well, Rocker...the "Best" ones may still care about looks, but they know the difference between real and real fake! ;)

Remember make up comes off and washes away...your true self is what you have to carry with you for life. Make sure that the beauty that last longer gets better taken care of. ;)

Then..you will shine and be noticed!
