View Full Version : I actually got booted today!
SpinMarty 06-27-2005, 02:59 AM So I was wandering around VMK seeing what people were doing, saying hi, being friendly (like always wink). I started to room hop and see what people have done with their rooms.
I went into a room called "Partner Party". Eyebrows went up but thought ok , let's see what is there. (this was after visiting a room called "Spin the Bottle" where I reminded the owner of appropriate VMK behavior and had no problems with her saying she would stop. They were doing and saying inappropriate things.)
So, back to the "Partner Party" room. When I got there the language was course (well I interpreted it as course), and rude. I gently reminded people of VMK rules and to be careful. I was told to shut up (surprise) and that they all hated me and to leave. I told the room owner that I was merely reminded her of the rules and that a VMK Staff Member were on the way (after trying to remind her more and being called many things). I was then booted from the room. I sent out a help request, of course, and minutes later the room disappeared. :D
Thank you VMK staff for realizing who is trying to help you out a well as helping promote the Disney values.
I just could not believe the rudeness by some of the players. I hope that community leaders will have the option of private messaging players without adding them to the friends list. That way you can say "look your behavior/language/whatever needs to be VMK appropriate other wise you will be banned." I also know that I am not a VMK cop or morals police but at the same time I also know that VMKCM cannot be everywhere (yet).
I am thinking that the option of putting people on that limited chat phrase list might be a good idea. One warning=one week limited chat. 2nd warning=two weeks limited chat, 3rd warning=banned. Or somehting like that.
OK I am done venting. Just have never been told that I am hated on VMK before (deep breath in and out, zen moment, reciting my mantra.)
LOL. :D
Lexweb 06-27-2005, 03:06 AM LOL you are not alone, I never wonder into those make-out type rooms but I have had some feisty people in my room before :D lol.
AdventureKid 06-27-2005, 03:06 AM Good for you! :) You did the right thing! I'm glad that the VMK Staff is so quick on things like that! If it was me i dont think I would be able to do that! I think i should work on that! LOL:D
figmentisback 06-27-2005, 03:16 AM That was the perfect thing to do... Rooms like that should not exist...
GBShorts 06-27-2005, 03:32 AM Amen. Hallelujah.
Great job and kudos. :)
Foustketeer 06-27-2005, 05:05 AM Nice work, SpinMarty. It's people like you that would make VMK a safer and more child friendly place! :D
PixelProphet 06-27-2005, 05:39 AM congrats, and thank you very much for reminding these stupid kids the valus that are supposed to be used on VMK
TheWolf 06-27-2005, 01:13 PM Well done Spin, saw a few people come into rooms last night and get abusive.
Noticed a lot of it was high number guests, whether that means anything or not I don't know.
Miss MeowsALot 06-27-2005, 01:35 PM At Least you warned them :) Thumbs up. I can't stand it when people come in my room and say who want to be my boy/girl friend? I just don't want to have to deal with it. I either ask them to leave or tell them so stop. I don't care if it's alowed it doesn't make it right. Go SpinMarty For Doing The Right thing!
Super Megaquack 06-27-2005, 01:51 PM I think thats a little too much, reminding1 thing, reporting and try to get rthem in troubleanother. Were they really going to affend anyone, if they annoyed youthen you canalways leave. I do not think you should tell on everything, please don't try to be a cop.You got someone banned fromthem being a little rude, and if you care so much, then don't go in thoserooms oronly in game rooms, those are more protected. I have hadthe same person go in my room and be rude after many boots, but Ijust ignoredhm and kept booting and he never had tme to do damage.
p.s. smarter pepole whop want to do that tell you they won't,wait foryouto leave, and then continue.
p.s.s.I thing you over reacted, but I know I'm probably too laid back though.
GBShorts 06-27-2005, 02:49 PM Let me guess, SupermegaQuack...
You're not that old, are you?
Trying to "get people in trouble" wasn't the purpose. His purpose was trying to keep children safe-a big big big goal of Disney in this instance.
He was simply asking people to follow the rules set forth in the Disney code, not like he was telling them to stop playing a mix in the music game or anything.
I don't think it's very nice that you're telling him that by following the rules and doing what the cast members asked he's over-reacting.
Is that 'smarter people who just wait for you to leave then continue" thing something you have done? You do realize that Disney Cast Members are watching everything we do in the game and logging every word said, right? Just because SpinMarty or others who ask you to stop aren't there doesn't make it okay and doesn't mean that you won't get a warning.
Miss MeowsALot 06-27-2005, 02:59 PM Just because SpinMarty or others who ask you to stop aren't there doesn't make it okay and doesn't mean that you won't get a warning.
Very True. They are watching us know matter what. Thats why it's inportant to try not to brake the rules. And a word of advice to all the Future Community Leader I would follow the rules as best as you can becasue If you get banned you won't become a Commuity Leader. :( Be Good And Follow The Rules :D
Super Megaquack 06-27-2005, 04:45 PM first of all, I never do it, I just thought of it, infact I never do it in the first place. Second,I relieasefor some older pepoleit is harder to adapt to areas with little kids, though I can, and last, Inotice I'm too layed back, but he is also overeacting.
Mickey_Dude 06-27-2005, 04:49 PM Good Job Spin Marty and i as well saw the Spin The Bottle room.
GBShorts 06-27-2005, 04:52 PM first of all, I never do it, I just thought of it, infact I never do it in the first place. Second,I relieasefor some older pepoleit is harder to adapt to areas with little kids, though I can, and last, Inotice I'm too layed back, but he is also overeacting.
I would SO seriously be watching what you say right now.
Just because we are older doesn't mean we can't adapt. Children who are immature sometimes need a little guidance as to what the right thing might be
since they haven't learned it yet. That's why they're children and not adults and why children don't run the world.
Even though this game was designed for children, I'm sure Disney was/is relying on those with a more mature sense of life to be community leaders (I'm sure children will be CL's too) and just general watchers-out for children who forget what the real meaning of Disney is.
FlyThenFall 06-27-2005, 04:57 PM Very nicely said Shorts. Again I think we're falling into generalizations which are the most dangerous things to society going right now. And this is especially true in the VMK world where stereotypical DAWs are showing up everywhere. The adults here who frequent the boards are amazingly cool people and I'm so glad I've been able to get to know them. There's things to be learned from them!
SpinMarty 06-27-2005, 05:36 PM The adults here who frequent the boards are amazingly cool people and I'm so glad I've been able to get to know them. There's things to be learned form them!
awww thanks! :D
Super Megaquack 06-27-2005, 05:39 PM I never said we can't, it is somtime harder for teens. Not everyone knows their little kids. I also never said it was not wrong, but banning is too much. And you also don't get thaty I know I'm too laid back, I just think you take it in as too big of a problem. I think what they should do to stop problems like this and too let both opinons have their way(I'm in the middle, more towards reporting, I only report huge cheating and saying bull, when used as the swear with the second word that tarts with c.(I"m asuming I shoulden't spell it out, although as long aas Idon't mean it andnot using it I think it's ok to say), their should be two main districts, 1 that is a little more laid back, alowing shut up and boy/girl friends(not the whole make out thing though), and 1 for pepole like you and kids, where the rules are strict and good fro caring parents and little kids.
p.s. Although I do not view itthis way, but a lot of pepole realydon't care what the 'true meaning" of disney is, and if you acutally say thats not thetrue meaning of disney to them, they wouldjust wait for you to leave andstart making fun of you behind your back. Again, I don't think of it that way, but I have to live with pepole like that a lot in life, and so Igot to know what they do. (also because it's not a hard plan to think of, I could easily if I wanted to)
parisparis 06-27-2005, 05:52 PM i got booted too
GoldenHeart 06-27-2005, 08:26 PM you did the right thing spinmarty! being like that is really sick! that goodness a staff member came and thank goodness vmk is save.
Bruen 06-27-2005, 08:44 PM Heh I would never promote such things as saying [deleted] such as was quoted in another thread but if you don't like the language in a room I think it is your right to leave. If you want to remind somebody fine but don't take offense if they don't listen. That is their choice. Were you to annoy me in my room expect to be booted as well. I'm playing a game to have fun and while I have no right to encroach upon others idea of fun, another has no right to encroach upon me. Easy solution to this when in private room? The big boot. Peace to ya.
GBShorts 06-27-2005, 09:06 PM Be careful, Bruen-you might want to take taht "" wording out of your post...
even though it's not technically using cuss words, it'll get edited out anyway.
I don't see how reporting someone and something that's breaking the rules is "ruining someone's fun". Isn't their rule breaking ruining everybody else's fun?
Why should I have to leave a room because somebody's being a jerk?
Ok fine, in your own private room do what you want. I agree. I boot people who ask me to be their girlfriend or to come to their room for some game.
But not in a public place. Don't encroach on MY RIGHT to stay there without having to listen to filth. :)
Super Megaquack 06-27-2005, 10:11 PM you could always ignore it and just not look at it, also look at my other post.
otto888 06-27-2005, 11:38 PM I gently reminded people of VMK rules
why? we TRY to bypass the filter and thats not on the rules! P.S. the rules may not apply in the beta!
wdworld 06-27-2005, 11:50 PM Oh i hate when the happens..walking in a room n its like ok buh bi now.. n it turns out its a stupid make out room..its nasty
FlyThenFall 06-28-2005, 01:52 AM why? we TRY to bypass the filter and thats not on the rules!
Yes, many of us try to bypass the dictionary to say stuff such as "The Room to Were Ship Spam" or "On, Too, Free, For, Hive, etc," but we're not trying to by pass it to say something less innocent than that. Some people need that gentle reminder to stay within the confines of decency. There's no need for make out rooms on VMK. How in the world do people make out over text on the internet?
