Apparently, President Lincoln's great speech would not have been deemed safe for the children of today.

VMK, please give us a dictionary we can use!

Hehe..true! But if you use these standards most of Disney Music is not "Acceptable" for us. Just try singing a song from "The Little Mermaid" or "Beauty and the Beast".

Hey..and even try saying the script to some of the VMK movies that were out..like Herbie, HSM, and Tron...

None of them have music or scripts that can be fully said in VMK.

I agree, I don't think some of the words from the script of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" would be acceptable on VMK.

I don't know if some of the words from the script of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" would be acceptable on VMK.

This is true, but I think that 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' technically was released by Touchstone, not Disney. I happen to agree that some of the words in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' wouldn't be appropriate for VMK, but that movie also has a PG rating, where everything on VMK is supposed to be G rated. I do agree that some words have no business being in VMK, but in reference to JeannieV's point, what could be said or sung in a Disney movie that was given a G rating and considered acceptable for all ages that would be inappropriate for VMK? I think that many words are banned just because someone might use them in an inappropriate manner - but as dictionary dancing shows, many words can be misused. I wish VMK would expand the dictionary and ban those who choose to misuse appropriate words rather than ban words that potentially could be misused.

Technically, "Touchstone" is Disney owned.
But the film's characters do belong to Steven Spielberg's company, "Amblin Entertainment".

Yes, there are a few explict words in the script, not acceptable.

I do admit, VMK should add acceptable words, and people shouldn't use those words for inappropriate uses.

OFF TOPIC FUN FACT/EDIT: The film has the longest on screen credits in any movie. Running about 10 minutes long.

How about the Declaration of Independence (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1563)?

This isn't a new argument - just that nobody has proposed any better solutions.

Hm. I was unaware of that thread.

I had considered using the Declaration of Independence as my example, but I'd figured I'd go with Lincoln, as he's an established Disney character. My original intent was to type the entire speech (which isn't really very long), but it just got too difficult after the opening sentence!

(And why is "propose" in the VMK dictionary, anyway? I'm not suggesting it be removed; I'm just surprised to see it there!)

Or how about Walt Disney's words (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=31557#post31557)?

But you know, it isn't about letting Lincoln or Walt speak in VMK - its about letting kids speak.

The easy way is to ban words. What is needed is a type of AI bot that, between the moment you press enter and when it appears on the screen, looks at the context of the sentence as well. 'How old are you' would get caught and stopped but 'This game is getting old' would pass. 'I'll see you at the mall this weekend' would be blocked, but 'I can't wait for the maze event this weekend' is allowed. The technology is there. It may be too expensive. But it would be so helpful to have a complete dictionary.

Thats probably the kind of thing that would make us pay for VMK. Personally, I would rather have VMK free, then have an additional 100 words to say.

Then again, I'm not much of a talker on VMK.

People - we are talking about a group that colored the Santa, (red holidy hat),green and said happy St. Patrick's Day.
Do you really think they are going to invest in a program that allows children to learn proper spelling and grammar?
