View Full Version : Help! What To Do In WDW In A Day?
Jimothy 03-16-2007, 01:55 AM Okay, so Im leaving soon to go to WDW, but we are only going to go to a park for one day. What should we do in WDW for a day?
There's just so much, any information on what I should see and where I should go in 1 Day?
If you have been, what would you do in just 1 Day?
im.a.princess 03-16-2007, 02:04 AM wow your going to WDW.. Luucckkyyy
CapnOlaf 03-16-2007, 02:06 AM I do happen to know a list of things to do.
Here's what'cha do.
You start with Animal Kingdom
start with Dinoland and ride Dinosaur
Then ride It's Tough to be a bug in dicovery Island
Then you go to Asia and ride Everest and Kali Rapids
then go to Africa and ride Kilaminjaro
then if you want to you can watch festival of the lion king It's awesome
that completes AK
Then you go to MGM
The only two good thrill rides there are Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror
And Lights Motors Action is an awesome show, do that too.
After you've done those you're done with MGM
Then to EPCOT
first you go to the land and ride Soarin'
Then go to imagination and watch Honey I Shrunk The Audience
then to the living seas for the seas with nemo and friends
and this is optional, but turtle talk with crush would be next
Then go to Test Track
Then you're done with EPCOT
then Magic Kingdom, cause it closes last
First go to adventureland and ride Pirates
then to frontierland for splash and thunder mountains
then liberty square for haunted mansion
Then in fantasyland, I suggest Mickey's PhilharMagic
Then last is Tomorrowland.
Buzz Lightyear
Space Mountain
and last but not least, Stitch's Great Escape.
After that, you've pretty much done everything.

DisneyHottie 03-16-2007, 02:14 AM Capnolaf seems a little ambitious(if lines did not exsist then maybe not), but I would say to get full use of one day is to go to Magic Kingdom. You really cant go wrong there.

Neoteny 03-16-2007, 02:48 AM One day???!!!
I guess it's better than not going at all, but really, you could spend two weeks in Walt Disney World and still not do everything!
But as you only have the one day, I can come up with a few recommendations:
First of all, don't try to cram all four theme parks into your day, as some people have suggested. Pick one, or at the most, two. If you've never been to a Disney Park before, I recommend the Magic Kingdom. However, if you've already done that (or Disneyland, or Disneyland Paris, or one of the other Magic Kingdom-like parks), I'd suggest either Epcot or Disney's Animal Kingdom, depending on where your interests lie.
I highly recommend dinner at either the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge or 'Ohana at the Polynesian. Both offer great food and entertainment, and fun experiences. Be sure to make your dinner reservations at least a week in advance (a month would be even better). And if you choose the Whispering Canyon, order the bottomless milkshake. Free refills all night!
Have fun, and tell us all about it after your trip!
NaviMap 03-16-2007, 02:51 AM One day simply isn't enough for WDW, but if you have to decide between parks, keep a priority in spending much time in the Magic Kingdom Park. If you're only to one park ($67), then I'd recommend Magic Kingdom Park if WDW, especially if its your first time. A multi-day park hopper is of greater benefit and is cheaper per day than a single day admission.
If you're really willing to spend $112 to park-hop WDW in a day, I'd recommend that you be very very selective in which rides and attractions you absolutely want to do that you would be doing (2-3 attractions in Animal Kingdom, 1-2 in Disney-MGM, 2-3 in Epcot, and the rest in Magic Kingdom). If crowds are especially high, then expect limit yourself further.
Keep the hopping between parks to a very minimum because you will be losing an average of 30 min for each park hop (drive time + walking in parking lot time + transportation to entrance + time to walk to 1st attraction)
eaglesgirl 03-16-2007, 05:35 AM I now saw that Disney offers the opportunity to add days with no expiration date. If you can get a 3 day pass, it really would be good for you if you know you would use it in the future. I also recommend going to either Magic Kingdom or Epcot. I don't like Animal Kingdom or MGM as much and don't think you'll enjoy them as much as the other two (especially if this is your first time).
If you have a park hopper, I suggest going to Magic Kingdom during the day & eating at Epcot at night. You can always take the monorail back and forth to the ticket/transportation center between those two parks.

Actually it is ENOUGH. Last September i went to WDW to go just for VMK central. In a day we did 4 parks and got back to my house whom is about 4 hours away at 7:00. You CAN do the park. But [No offense] the thing is that people take to long. They start looking at every little thing and take a picture with or HAVE to see it. We ride the basics. I've been to Disney 17 times and we know our route. People always believe 'You can't do a park in a day.' You CAN i've done it at least 2 times in those 17 times and we made it fine & enjoyable! :)
aengus 03-16-2007, 01:12 PM I agree with navimap and disneyhottie, go to MK
It's not that its impossible, but it just doesnt seem fun to try that. Not to mention this sounds like he doesnt have a real lot of experience at WDW so it would be outright overwhelming.
Go to MK and just enjoy yourself. Running from park to park is fun when your a pro and are feeling like a commando, but not when its your only day. You want to be able to take it all in IMO.

i agree with navi 1 day isn't enough. But go to Magic Kingdom. Lots of rides and VMK central

Hey wait! Am I going to eat? And you think its really possible to do all this?!
I dont think its possible to hit all three parks, its at least 30 minute travel time between each!
Also, I will probably do MK and Epcot.
Im probably going to do the morning in Epcot's Future world (since that's where the rides are)
Then after lunch, head over to MK Via Monorail and finish the day there.
MagicMonkeys 03-16-2007, 01:36 PM OK,here is my list:
BTMR in MK,Pirates, and SM,and other things like HM.
Then if there are EMH at night,do everything that usually has a really long line during the day!Have fun at WDW!
snowgalsnow 03-16-2007, 01:44 PM ok it is posaiable sp? Well i did it and there was 10 of us then _ including my cousins _ and we did it all in a day but we are going for a week cause we never went scince i was 5 but one is enough
mktourist 03-16-2007, 02:07 PM The key to maximizing a single day visit is to use the fast pass. If you're not familiar with it's use here's a short explanation. At the entrance to most of the major rides that have long wait times there is a set of kiosks. You use your park pass to get a ticket. Each person that is going to ride needs to get one using their pass. The ticket has ride start and ending ride time. These time are usually posted on a sign above the kiosks as well. You can't enter the fast pass line until the listed start time. You can however often get onto the ride after the ending time has passed. So don't just toss the tickets if you go past the time. It never hurts to check. Printed on the ticket is the time that you can get your next fast pass. Some people will tell you that you can't have two passes at the same time but that's not entirely true. There's just a wait period between the times you can acquire them. Ok, so my recommendations would be.
Arrive at Epcot when the park opens. Go to either Soarin or Test Track to get a fast pass. Once you've gotten the ticket for one of them go ride the other. This will allow the time to tick away while you're enjoying the ride. All of the other rides are pretty much quick loaders or large loaders designed to handle huge crowds. There should not be much wait time for any of them. Depending on your interests that would include Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy and Honey I shrunk the Audience. There are a number of movies and shows in the World Showcase to see but you have to be careful not to bog down there. Time is the major problem with seeing everything and show start times can add delays.
If you are going to park hop as you've indicated take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Again, once you enter the Magic Kingdom the Fast Pass is the key. Most of the major rides that tend to have long lines have fast passes. This includes all three of the mountains. It really depends on the composition of your group and their interests as to which passes you acquire and the order in which you ride the rides. Be aware that some of the children rides in Fantasyland are notoriously slow loaders. The fast passes for them may not be usable for four or five hours after you get them. This is why it is important to look at the return time listed at the kiosk. It is also what makes reading the times on your ticket important. If you pick up one with an extended wait time you don't have to wait for that rides start time before getting another fast pass. I think it's about an hour or so after you acquired your previous pass but check to make sure. If you have any questions regarding the passes be sure to ask a cast member. There's always one available at the kiosks.
There are a lot of good suggestions here about which rides to try. Good Luck on accomplishing all that you hope to.
Jimothy 03-16-2007, 02:28 PM Awesome tips, thanks mktourist!
We are probably not going to see any shows, or enter the World Showcase at all, we just want to get the main rides done in Future World. Soarin' , Test Track, probably not Mission:Space (lol), Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, and probably that new nemo ride.
We are about ready to head off! Woot
PrincessAnnO 03-16-2007, 02:48 PM Your plan to do Epcot and Magic Kingdom sound like good ones especially the first time. Remember, you do loose time traveling between parks. Also, check the times the parks close before you go and figure that into your planning....the times have been interesting as of late--extra magic hours and Princess and Pirate Party really change things.
Starting at Epcot is a good plan. Soarin fast pass first. I was there yesterday by 10:30 am and the fast passes for Soarin' were gone for the day and if you don't have much time, waiting for 90 mins. in line is not much of a plan. Test Track is the other not to be missed ride...go there after getting your Soarin' fast pass.
Magic Kingdom-of course do the quests (they are a lot of fun but if you are time limited, take your answers with you). Fast pass Space Mountain or Splash Mountain first, Thunder Mountain waits are much shorter so don't worry about fast pass there. Don't miss Goofy's BarnStormer in toon town--it's short but still fun. For a fast lunch, we go to the place in tomorrowland, a nice quick spot (sorry, name is escaping me--). Go by 11:00 or 11:15 to beat the crowds. If you used your fast pass already, get a new one for Buzz Lightyear before eating. After lunch, doing POTC and Jungle Cruise (if you like corney jokes) would be a good choice.
Hmm, you know, another time saver for you would be eating lunch on the run..grab a hot dog and eat on the way to MK.
My best advise to you is park at Epcot (less tram wait) and then go back there for Illuminations at the end of your day. Be sure to plan well if you only have one day. Know what you want to do and what will make your day the best. Going with a 2 year old is different than going with a 15 year old and that is different than going with a 65 year old. I'm assuming you are more towards the 15 or so (don't tell!)--which means the suggestions given on this thread will most likely be good for you. If there is a young child in your party, that is a different story altogether!
If you have an idea of the rides you have as must sees, let us know and we can give you the best game plan suggestions so that you can maximize your time...also, I know you can't give us dates but day of the week really makes a difference too as to how much you will get done.
While I tell relatives to do Magic Kingdom if it is their first trip to the parks (that is the TRUE Disney experience), Animal Kingdom has a little bit for everyone and is my second pick. My personal favorite in all of the parks: The Lion King Show at Animal Kingdom. Wow. All the parks are great though and Soarin' and Test Track are not to be missed!
One final note---Yes, it is possible to get to all of the parks in one day. Doing the parks takes years. We have been pass holders for a good while now and still find new little goodies hiding here and there each time we go.

Neoteny 05-24-2007, 07:51 PM Lol thanks, but have you checked the date of this thread?
It was back in March @_@
So how was your trip? What did you do? Did you find you had time to hit all the highlights?
GTO_Girl 05-31-2007, 02:34 AM LOL whoops! I never check to see when things are posted :Pop
EragonFan 05-31-2007, 02:08 PM Actually it is ENOUGH. Last September i went to WDW to go just for VMK central. In a day we did 4 parks and got back to my house whom is about 4 hours away at 7:00. Mind posting what all you can do in every park in one day? My youth group went a few weeks ago and my group was able to go on test track, mission:space, Soarin', 3x Buzz Lightyear, 2x Pirates, Big Thunder Mountian, and 2x laugh floor.
Edit I did forget that we probably spent 45 minutes to an hour at VMK central
