Well, it was said that the game will open in the 2nd quarter of the year (April-June), and it will be Spring. Furthermore, i am guessing it will be open around (or earlier) the release of POTC 3.

So...How much do you pay??

The Basic game is Free.
They will be charging for extras, like access to new areas, ships, and other stuff.

Also - The new fan site is not a new oppertunity to get a "mod job". It's exactly the same as this one - with the same mods. Oh and yes, first few members get free signature. I was member #28 so got sig. :)

The site is probably the best looking of them all. I like the PG-13 rating on it.it nice cool to see the site grow because i was a member before the offical opening.

What does it mean when it is PG rated?Well, since the game involves killing, a little bit of blood, and (supposedly) rum, the site is rated PG because the game itself will probably have a PG-like rating. So in order to talk about the game, you have to have the site PG.

For instance, VMK is a G-Rated game, so is VMKF. On VMKF you can't really get into much detail about killing, alcoholic drinks and such. But with the Pirates site, you can.

Quick question, I saw that some people have joined like in January, and not just the mods. I was wondering how did they know that the site even existed?

I signed up as a Beta tester about a year and a half ago. Then again last year. I got an email on Friday saying to fill out the info to get a key. Yesterday a few of us got our keys.

Two things. You have to have 1GB RAM in your computer or the game just doesn't play. One of my friends had 512 RAM and the rooms would take forever to load and jerky. Another couldn't get into making the character. So everybody is running off getting more RAM for their machines.

The Beta version, you don't need to pay. It crashes a lot (that's why its Beta). For people under 18, you need your parents permission. For everybody that downloaded it, you had to provide a credit card as proof I guess of your age (not sure why). But they aren't using it to be charged.

Like somebody previously said, when it comes out in a few months there will be a paid version and a free version. Free version not as much stuff and suppose to have ads with it. I doubt I would pay for the paid version of this, since it seems quite expensive.

We are also walking around with strange titles (two of us have the same title). I'm assuming our titles have to be approved.

Same. I signed up last year, got beta key e-mail message this past Friday, and logged in with my disney member name thing yesterday so they can send me my key.....I'm still waiting for my activation key :(.


Oh and KEBSD, a beta key is something we are suppose to be given through an e-mail from the pirates online crew that we put in a slot and enter on the beta site. Once that's done, you can download game, make your game account, etc.

The Beta version has debug running, so there is a continually list of action showing up on the screen. When you crash it brings up a bug report that you fill in and has the log file associated with it. This is why I believe you need so much RAM and a faster computer. When the game finally comes out, all these options will be turned off so your computer doesn't have to be as fast.

I don't think it will. If it says minium system requirements are PC, then they aren't supporting the MAC.

One other thing, those hours posted where it showed Thurs-Sunday for stress test, I believe it was stressing it. We've actually found the game is going 24 hours right now. Server goes down a few times a day probably for upgrades, but not often. I've got the bags under my eyes to prove it. :)

I am concerned about this Fan Event they had tonight across the country for POTC3. Saw that they issued Beta Keys. I don't think that is right for all the people that have signed up over the last year and a half. People should have been chosen from that list. We signed up Oct 2005 and a few of us got it. I believe everybody that signed up then should have. This whole thing doesn't make sense to me.

Very cool site, I like it a lot. I can't wait until Pirates Online comes out, it will be a lot of fun over at the Pirate Forums. :)

I thought I had registered many moons ago (to get an Alpha key) but not sure. I registered a second time when people started posting about getting keys but I have no idea how long ago that was (without researching it). ;) Maybe yours will arrive this week?:D

I'm running the game on 512 RAM and I seem to do ok. My computer is 5 years old. I have had to retry the initialization now and then. It wasn't even sluggish until I arrived at Port Royal and received my cutlass, now things have started to slow up. I'm freezing and the game shuts down for no reason.. but that could just be the game.

The reason you really need the 1MB Memory for the beta is all the debug running in the background. If you notice when you crash it pops up with a bug report window that contains your log files. Also if you hit either Alt+F1 or Ctrl+F1 (can't remember which), it shows info on your location, etc. My friends with the 512 RAM didn't get very far unfortunately. When the real game comes out, all that will be disabled and you should be fine with that 512 RAM according to the specs for the game.

First there was a Exclusive Game Beta Access! email that came out. It said to register for E3 Beta Registration click here.

When you filled that out, at some point some of the people then received the Claim Your Beta Account! email. There it gave you a Beta Account Key. You have 7 days to activate you account. Then you were activated with your Beta account.

Well, i'm the first to quit the site :p

I've been playing for several day's now and my favorite bug is when I was steering my ship around all of a sudden I just ran forward and fell off the ship. My ship then disappeared and I had to teleport back to Port Royal to get back on my ship. It's been a lot of fun but don't know if I would pay to play though.

Yeah I read this month's issue of a certain magazine and it had an article on POTCO.It said the basic game is free.That means there must be something more that must be paid to get but idk what it is yet

So is anyone else having problems with doing their quests on POTCO? I have now created my 4th pirate and still cant finish the quest on Tortuga. Now my new pirate cant do any kind of quests at all. I had to buy a new ship in order to even sail. I have a brand new lap top major memory high speed for gaming and I STILL am getting DC'D all the time. Other than that I really like it. And Im a MOM. lol

I can't even get past the initial cannon demo and the sinking of Bo Beck's ship. Guess my system isn't up to the challenge.

You can't complete the quest on Tortuga because Chapter 3 quests are incomplete, as of now. I'm guessing they'll be complete in time for the public opening.

am also not able to connect with server when I get that far, not sure if that is their problem or mine.

Well I had better luck last night. I finally got into tortuga, and I am almost done with the quest there. I still need to kill a few scorpions (if I can find them) so I can get their blood for my Tatoo. Of course I had to create yet ANOTHER avtar to do this. I just delete the ones that glitch or get stuck and start over. It takes about 3 hours to get to a level 3 in swords. So at least there isnt too much wasted time. I did finally figure out that you have to do things in the exact order. For example dont put anything in box two where your gun is supposed to go. If you do your gun goes poof. (at least in my experience) I was able for the first time however to switch between my short sword and my voodoo doll. I couldnt do that before. Anyway, it was much better last night. :)

Acording to what targ is saying you have to pay for alot of the game, but the basic part of the game is free, I guess...

I am POSITIVE, that Disney will deliver a great game with Pirates Online. I have seen the work, the effort, the marketing.. it looks like they are serious in making this a suberb MMO. A beta means you are to test out what is already made, so Disney can tweak it to your liking. The game is free, for the most part. Stop whining that a free beta tested game isn't the same as a subscriber's Wolrd of Warcraft. :pirate:

I, personally, can't wait. I'd love to be a pistol wielding sharpshooter on a vessel crewed by me and my friends.
