Toy Story 3 Is In Production. That is all.

Posted on Wednesday, May. 10, 2006, 01:30 AM

Scott Weinberg writes: "During a Disney shareholders meeting, Mouse House honcho Robert Iger made reference to "Toy Story 3" being currently in production. And that's all the news we have on it ... but it's a "Toy Story" movie, so every nugget is worth reporting.

The 10th Anniversary of Toy Story is this year and the Special Edition DVD is now available, which contains a trailer for the movie Cars.

Right now Disney is focused on their 2 big releases of the year, POTC2 and Cars. As reported, although a lot of rumors have been going around, Toy Story 3 is currently in production.

I think this is great news to know that the Disney/Pixar merging didn't actually halt the production of TS3 entirely. Many fans await the next release in the series and I have a feeling it won't be long before we all know for sure ;)

It is not in prodcution as the idea:
Disney's plot idea consisted of a recall of Buzz Lightyear toys, which includes Andy's, driving a group of toys to venture to Taiwan to rescue Buzz. This plot, however, was scrapped, cited as being too weak and generally unpopular with individuals at both Pixar and Disney.

That was the original plot, i am not gossiping here people here is a picture from the La Film Convention:
http://img137.**************/img137/9772/toystory3promoimage8vw.jpg

Here are quotes from the MAN himself, John Lasseter:
"We’re not talking about Toy Story 3 yet. Sorry!" IAnd he did not say it in a nice tone.

As a cast member has died; Jim Varney, the voice of Slinky Dog in Toy Story 1 and 2, in 2000. The movie is higjly unlikly ever going to to be realeased and if it ever did it would be a b rated trilogy move that is just straight to realease onto dvd as some poor disney quality moves did such as The Jungle Book: 2.

It all looked good in 2005 for Toy Story but in January 2006 the movie was dumped by Pixar.

Could it be that toy story is at a end?

Cars was an amazing movie. Saw it yesterday :D.

Anyways, they hinted something about Toy Story 3 in the movie [Cars]. I don't think I understood it all but I knew it had some kind of connection. I believe I heard the words "Jessie" and "marry", but it was all in the background and the race car engines covered up most of it.

Disclaimer: Hey, it could mean nothing, but Pixar movies have been known to "slip" details of future movies in their productions...;)

No not exactly...

It would help if you added dates to your quotes...

Toy Story 3 was shelved... But that was really before the Disney/Pixar merger... Things change...

The original post states that that statement was made in May 2006...

Now unless your quotes post-date this new statement... Your quotes really prove nothing...

Sigh. I read the article his quotes came from and it was dated way back when Disney/Pixar merged, which is old news. The same picture was there and similar information has been posted on several blogs. The news I reported came from a direct source and I don't think I'm allowed to post the link.

I have found the release date rumor is 2008 ;)

Since Disney and Pixar merged together... Pixar is head of their productions again.. and only Bob Iger can make Pixar do anything they don’t want..

Toy story 3 is approved for blue sky... that’s all.. Circle 7's version is gone into the Disney vault of abandoned ideas since the story wasn't up to pixar’s caliber.. Elements might be used.. but it's currently in pre, pre pre, production... no one is attatched I believe... On top of that i think a few movies are ahead of it... besides Ratatouille.

Details about that have yet to be released. We don't even have the slightest idea as to a plot for the movie. There's been rumors that they ditched the idea of the "recalling Buzz Lightyear toys" plot. We just really don't know at this stage of the game.

EDIT: The IMDb (Internet Movie Database) says it's expected to be released in 2008, but it still says the plot will be along of the lines of Buzz being recalled to Taiwan.

Something I would expect is something reflecting Ratatui(SP?) was in monsters inc.... but nothing reflecting Toy Story 3.. cause it has a car version cameo with it's first movie at the end of the movie... and nothing is final. They are looking at making it but if no good story is found it will go back into the vault....

According to the EW website, their last article published on TS3 was dated (12/3/2004). You might have had an old copy, but if it was a very recent edition that hasn't yet been archived, could you maybe quote what you read from the magazine?

The shareholder's meeting was on May. 10, 2006, being the most recent news on the subject.

An animation movie takes years to produce. Cars took five years according to the movie surfers, so if a toy story 3 were to come out in 2008, production must be started immediately if not already so.

Here's a quote which basically says what I meant: "Thier first major move was to pull the plug on all of Circle 7's work - including preproduction on Toy Story 3" (Entertainment Weekly, June 23 issue pg 11). Circle 7 was a dummy company made by Walt Disney company... it was designed to be a full company if the Pixar deal fell through... but was set up as a dummy.. They took their time with everything and did not go all that far with much...

Toy Story 3 will take much more time than people think if it's going to be made... 5 years from start to finish maybe... They have other movies in the pipe line right now... besides going into the last leg of ratatuee(SP?)... it would be easier to pay attention to the not to distant future rather then 5 years from now...

Toy Story 3 Scheduled for 2010
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
March 8, 2007

The Walt Disney Studios is in production on Toy Story 3, via its Pixar Animation Studios, says The Hollywood Reporter.

In an appearance during Disney's annual shareholder meeting in New Orleans, Lasseter said: "We are finally in production on 'Toy Story 3'," adding the film is scheduled to come out in 2010. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are back on board to voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively.

The screenplay is by Michael Arndt, who just won the original screenplay Academy Award for Little Miss Sunshine, according to Lasseter, who said: "We got a great story."

Wow, it must've moved up two years. Why did I think it was scheduled for '08?

Perhaps it's because that's when Pixar's post-Ratatouille film WALL * E is set to be released. Moreover, Pixar originally was not going to play a role in part 3. Pixar's reconciliation with Disney changed how the film would proceed. I can't imagine Pixar dating anyone else anyway. ;)

I just found this. Sounds like Toy Story 3 Will be coming out!

February 9, 2007 - Disney animation bosses John Lasseter and Ed Catmull gave a rundown to investors yesterday on their upcoming slate, and the biggest news to come from that conference call was the revelation that the on again, off again Toy Story 3 is on again.

The CGI sequel will likely arrive in 2009, but Lasseter -- the director of the first two films and the Pixar chief who is now running Disney's animation division -- will not helm the film. That task will fall to Lee Unkrich, who has co-directed Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo. Michael Arndt, recently nominated for an Academy Award for his Little Miss Sunshine script, is writing the film.

"The greatest thing about the merger of the two companies is that the creators of Toy Story 1 and 2 can make 3 with the story that we wanted," said Lasseter, according to Variety, during the call, an obvious reference to Disney's previous plans to make the third film without the assistance of Pixar. Of course, that was before Pixar and Disney merged, and Lasseter became the boss of Walt Disney's ghost.

A change also seems to be underway at Walt Disney Feature Animation, the traditional non-Pixar arm of the operation, with Lasseter announcing that Chris Williams, a company veteran, is now directing 2008's American Dog. Williams has replaced Lilo & Stitch director Chris Sanders on the project, who left the company recently.

Catmull, meanwhile, says that reports that Walt Disney Feature Animation might be returning to 2-D animation are accurate -- that arm of the company does plan on focusing on classically hand-drawn films again.

"We're really excited about that and have brought back some great directors to work on that," says Catmull. One such film in development is The Frog Princess from Ron Clements and John Musker, the men behind The Little Mermaid and several other Disney hits who returned to Disney last year at Lasseter's request

That this board and VMK will be gone before it ever comes out!

I hope it's not the recall storyline. Seems too similar to TS2 but the toys go further away from home to rescue their friend. Hmm, then again, TS2 was similar to TS1 in that Toys leave home to rescue friend. SO if they ever made a TS4 then they have to go to space or Infinity and Beyond to rescue their friend.

I believe that If/When a Toy Story Three comes out, it will be very interesting to see what goes on, the plot, the voices, the everything. Will new Toys arrive? Will Sid be older/less evil? Will Andy be older/different? All to find out, once rumors are confermed. I myself would like to see either a Toy Story, were Andy grows up, gets a job, wife, kids, and carries on with Woody, Buzz and his other toys. The kids get them? They find out they are alive? Or maybe one were Andy - older or not - finds out they live, and some strange thing happens to the toys, now that they have revealed the big secret.

Yes it is sad with the loss of the voice of slinky but they could easily say slinky was lost just for that reason. But i have know their was a production for Toy Story 3 for a long time. When i was 11 I wrote a letter to Pixar for ideas on toy story 3. I got a letter back that said they liked the pics and were going to present them to tthe head honcho. Never got a letter bcack so i am guessing my ideas got a big flat 0. But if it does come out i drew a character and named him Bomb-o if he ever shows up.
