View Full Version : My little VMK idea

Ok, let's say VMK had a promotion to being active? How about, depending on how you were active on VMK. Like dancing, walking around, playing games, and doing stuff that makes your character move. Like if you were active and signed in alot and walked around, you could be taller, have longer arms, and be skinnier. (And faster!) But if you weren't as active, and you just sat around, and teleported instead of walking, you would become fatter, slower, have smaller arms, and shrink to match your appearance. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Post them here.

hmm this sounds kinda cool

Of course, if we attain different speeds, all race games would probably have to be shut down temporarily until promotion ends.

Wow that sounds like a great idea. Its gonna take a lot of work to make it happen too.

I personally think thats very strange . .

I would probably go against it; I like our characters how they are.

I think that I'd get too concerned on how my VMK character looked, and wouldn't have *as* much fun on the game as I usually would.

It's a no for me ;)

nah, that would promote obesity, which then would pretty much be degrading to the large% of obese people going to Disney.

pretty much it would make Disney seem like being fat was bad, which it is un-healthy, but they cannot afford to lose customers.

oh yeah, taller? no thanks that would be really weird. I like the weight height and so forth about my character currently.

This idea sounds a little..no wait...a LOT freaky!
The characters of vmk look perfect!
It's a no for me, I like our characters how they are.

I like the idea in that but instead of being active we should be able to pick our hiegh and weight and arm length ect. but not quickness because i like the racing games. I guess they could make a magic that makes you go faster but if i had to vote your idea i would probly say no, sorry but i dont really like the idea.

That can cause more Baybe and Taken probelms! I can see it now, "mummy tall!"

No for me. I'm away a lot. And, it is kind of insulting, too.

I agree. Let us pick.

Tmkttt has a point, too. Dating problems will happen, and more of calling people fat.

sorry kind of weird thanks for thinking and making vmk a better place

The way the characters have been made is for our own safety. They make them all the same and do not allow to much differentiating. This is so that no-one amkes fun of someone's character being fat (i.e.) or any other physical characteristics. We can, however, curtomize the head and hair. There have also been certain problems with skin color in the game. I once ran into a player that was being quite disruptive and accusing charaters that had tanned skin of being (fill in the blank). This has also created activity and is against the VMK Values and laws. It is inappropriate to do this act. The strange color of skin is for fun even though it looks strange.

Definite No. VMK is perfect the way it is, and I know many players wouldn't appreciate being called 'fat.' It would increase the amount that the HELP button is used and the extra amount of work it would take from the server would cause much mroe problems with the game.

Geez, take it easy. It was only an idea, no need to kick somebody when they are down! =(

I think it would be a good idea, except for the fatter-skinnier part. We could stay active doing that stuff and we get points. Then, at the end, the players with the most points could win something. It would also be cool if we could adjust hieght and hair length. Not so short you DO look like a baby, maybe more like three or four different hieghts.

Off topic: I've always wondered... Why is there pink, green, and blue skin?

I have to say that I think this is a bad idea. Emphasizing a healthy, active lifestyle is one thing, but having characters' appearances controlled by the amount of their movement in the game just is asking for trouble. Society places enough emphasis on the importance of being thin and eating disorders are too common - VMK should stay as far away from this as possible. Besides, until you mentioned this, I never thought about how my character looked - and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. I think all of the characters look normal (for virtual characters) and unremarkable and appear to be at a healthy weight and, in my opinion, they should be kept that way. The focus of VMK should be on playing the games and making friends, not on how the characters look.

Besides, I think that blueotter is right - VMK already has enough trouble with skin color. I once encountered another player who asked me if I thought it was a bad thing she was black - when I said no, she told me that another player booted her from the guest room because of her virtual skin color. Can you just imagine the comments and problems that will emerge if a character's weight can become an issue?

it was an interesting idea, but this would also take up alot of memory, tracking how long you've been on, deciding whether you gain or lose weight..

it was an idea, but it would cause so many problems. I'm already getting tired of this Taken stuff, so I put on my Gold Mickey ears, so far that seems to keep everybody... most everybody from asking me.

don't even get me started on this Bay Be stuff either, height would surely cause this problem to grow. its hard enough going into Pirates, with all these "Bay Be" repeating, Mummy Oh Mummy! then telling the person to read the caps, honestly nobody wants the chat area flooded with Mummy! Duh Duh! its just a bit of an annoyance, and height would only make it worse.

I can see where you have the idea, I mean it sounds cool and all, but if I were to play VMK more than I already do to make my character skinny, I would then be doing the exact opposite to myself by sitting at the computer.

but! this is where Pirates Of The Caribbean the MMORPG will be different, in that game you will be able to change all that stuff you want.

VMK is good right now, because everybody is equal in height & weight, and nobody makes fun of other players because of how they look. infact I started talking to a group of people on VMK we all dressed up really goofy and walked around, nobody made fun of us. thats the kind of attitude I'd like to see more often.

What if the promotion required YOU in real life to do that, not your character?

brycey

Us in real life? I think that would be terrible. People would lie about how much they were active to get the look they want.

I think the characters are fine ---
Furniture, Pins, Clothes, and Lands are what need to be updated ; )

I like the faster part... our characters go awfully slow. >_<

I don't really like this idea, people would start judging other people because they're either thin or large.

Chaelle

I don't agree. What if VMK stopped the games? And guests need to play games, too. They wouldn't be as fast as us 1st day people (or at least the active ones) in the games.

People make fun of each other's weight/height in real life. Let's prevent it from happening in VMK.

I'm strongly against it.

Actually, not everyone can be active! It's not fair since everyone can't play every minute of there life.

I also agree of Chaelle, people make fun. And well, some VMK players are already rude enough.

Ok... well the speed and weight thing isn't going to work out. What about the height though? Lemme guess, you people are going to say that it would lead to people giving away their age, and also would make it easier to play the "bay be" game.

Rewarding players for spending more and more time on the computer would be demoting physical activity. If VMK decided to sell items such as jump ropes, basketballs, etc. to promote staying active, then that may work but I do not think rewarding people for spending more time online is quite what VMK would want.

Changing the height of the players because of how much time they spend online would be very unrealistic. I spend 5-7 hours per week playing soccer, and more time for running, biking, and roller-blading, and I am still short. I know some very tall people who do absolutely nothing all day long but lay around and watch television.

In support of this though, it would actually decrease the amount of "bay bes" because in order to become very short, they would not be able to play for very long and they could not play minigames or trade.

You guys should look at the positive and negative. ;)

yep... actually, yeah I would have mentioned that.
if less people were weird, I would be all for the height differences. but theres abunch of strange people on VMK...
